She had an IQ of a very high order ( genius? ), spoke 5 languages, great sense of humour, and died tragically in a car accident at the very young age of 34.

Jayne Mansfield appeared in an early Rock & Roll themed film, The Girl Can't Help It (1956), with the title song performed by Little Richard. The opening scene was like something Benny Hill would have done:

Jayne Mansfield was known for being a big self-promoter, always hyping whatever project she had going at the moment; she once made and appearance on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, and, during her interview, Carson had a small cash register on his desk; every time Jayne would plug something, Carson would press a key on the register and a loud "Ka-Ching" would sound...

Jayne's daughter is a star in her own right as the lead on the TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a role she has held for 19 seasons. Here she discusses her mothers death:

I got into the music of Kurt Weill and Brecht at the age of 22, when I'd listened to all the jazz albums that the local record-library had to offer and pulled out this old LP entitled "Die Dreigroschenoper". In it of course I found Lotte Lenya, who eventually led me also to a lusting after Ute Lemper:

Louis Armstrong and Bobby Darin got me interested in Weil and Brecht with the song Mack The Knife; later there was The Doors version of Alabama Song. I also got more info on Weil, Brecht, Lenya, and other cabaret-style artists, form an unlikely source: the owner of the rock club where I worked in the mid to late 70s, a very laid back Louisiana-born guy with a mind as sharp as a tack was a very big fan of the Nazi fleeing composers and artists and would often discuss the music and would even, sometimes, break into some rather serviceable renditions of some of the works...
