Matsu..Seems it had 3 Y guns, 4 K guns and double roll offs. Throws about as many charges as The Type class but a meaner pattern.
Gotta agree with that one, I got a nasty pounding from a type C going through the Tsugaru strait. They seem to not go down with one torpedo either, maybe need to adjust HP on those.

You aren't going to sink a destroyer with a single torp every time.

All except one lucky depth-charging kill were rammings!
Only one sub ever killed me, it was the head-hunter named Grey Wolf....

In SH2 as a sub, I felt bad killing a DD player. But in SH4, I find, I'll spend 4 torps spread on a charging DD and usually kill him, but it's a waste when going after tonnage. Those DD's are doing their job.

well for me it's every time I am not going to sink a type C with one torpedo, but most others go down in one. It's a decision though, send two, and have one less torp for bigger tonnage, send one, disable the destroyer and don't get credit for kill, send one, disable the destroyer try to surface and finish him with the deck gun... well that last one ends in death

It's not about the destroyer. As Wayne Hughes wrote: "Men matter most." It was just as true in WW2. Take a bunch of inexperienced sailors led by some ninety-day wonders, put them on the finest escort class in the fleet, and they won't be able to find their own backside in dim light. Take an elite crew led by a mean, clever, sneaky skipper, put them on an out-dated tin can, and you've got headaches, Yankee sailor boy! Don't worry about what, worry about who.

Everyone hated him, but as a Destroyer, he never sunk me.

Not that hard to take out Destroyers for me, especially ones doing harbor patrol. I simply get slooooooooooooowly into position, and when he comes plodding slowly by I put a torpedo under his "stack" and down he goes...

As a Destroyer I would "right full rudder" "Port engine full" (Starboard stop.)
Or visaversa.

Having just picked up SH4 about a week ago, I haven't encountered too many DD's yet, so I don't have one that scares me.

What does scare me, however, are H6Ks, flying boats have become the bane of my existence. I've only died to two of them, second one caught me completely off-guard in a storm and wasn't spotted until he was about 2nm's away (I was in an S-boat, so there was no avoiding that beating).

First one is the most ridiculous death I have ever experienced playing any SH title. My first career, first patrol, heading out of Manila in command of the S-38. I was maybe 10nm out of the harbor when my watch crew calls out that they've spotted an aircraft. I'm in friendly waters, so I assumed it was friendly (I did not know at this time that the game only does the popup for hostile contacts) and went on my merry way. I was terribly surprised when a few hundred kilos worth of explosives smashed my little boat to pieces. I guess that's what I get for clicking the 'Campaign' button before reading..well, anything actually.

Default Destroyer with superhuman abilities

I found a juicy convoy in a mission yesterday that as it unfolded, shook my confidence. I'm on my 11th patrol and to date the escorts have been easy to defeat. Get in a good position, stay deep and quiet until convey in close, go for a pop up and shoot, and get the hell outa dodge after I let the fish go on there way. I'm up to a baleo boat and its very good at going deep.

All has been good until yesterday. Most DC are not very close and I just wait out the escorts.

So yesterday, I was directly in front of the convey and was underwater a good 10 miles from the convoy (love that radar!). My guestimate of the convoy course was spot on, So I was deep (+/- 300 ft) at battle stations, in silent running mode, with the engines off as they approached my position. I was about to order "come to periscope depth" and I heard a ping???

Next thing I knew was getting hammered by 3 DE's. It was unmerciless. Lots of damage and had to go very deep (400+) to evade.

Is there a switch in capability after a certain date. I'm in mid war era now?

How the hell did they find me in the first place???
