6 torpedos total to sink a Medium Cargo?

(Spread of 4 impact setting - 4m depth - 3' spread) all 4 hit crossing span of the ship

Ship stalls in 19 min with massive listing starboard
Wait 1hr 20 min
1 single aimed at fuel bunker - hit
Wait 1hr 20 min
1 single aimed at far stern compartment - hit
Wait 8 min
Sinks

I take it they have been made more difficult to sink from the beta 0.39 mod?

No. It's the same version. You could be a victim of the random factors in SHIII (explosion size and damage).

The difference between 0.36 & 0.39 is mostly faster sinking times for some compartments on merchant ships & escorts and all round faster flooding for the tankers.

The only area toughened up was the fuel bunker.

If you hit an already flooded compartment then there is no additional gain.

In all the excitment I forgot to mention that Rubini's Harbour Traffic Mod is as we type, being incorperated into the NYGM Campaign.

This is more than just a simple merge. We expect to have this update available in the coming week or so.

When using sh3 comander to start a new career with NYGM, what should the Use Crew option be set to?

Probably not in the short term. I've included all of the code changes to menu_1024_768.ini and Dails.cfg for TW if someone would like to work up a version though. The menu_1024_768.ini is already pretty messy and difficult to work with so I'd rather avoid more changes out of fear of "bad things" happening.
