Default Magical Teleporting Ships?

Last night I was attacking a Large Merchant Convoy and had something very strange happen.

After I fired a spread into the convoy and was turning about to line up an aft torp shot on an approaching DD - one merchant tanker got between my sub and the pursuing destroyers path (looking like a collision course).

So anyway I decided to line up the shot to hit the DD and if the Merchant got hit instead I didn't really care I had more torps loaded and ready.

So as the torpedo was racing toward the tanker about 200 yards (simulationally the DD was about to ram the tanker as well). All the sudden the tanker zoomed at lightning speeds (like zero to 120kts in less than 1 second) 1000 yards forward and no longer in the path of the approaching destroyer and my torpedo just disappeared.

So I doubt Japanese developed teleportation technology that allows their merchants to zoom out of the way of incoming torps and ships.

Has anyone else seen this game behavior?

I ask now something sharp ... by which time factor because you're in the game go?!?
Something really only happens when one does not adhere to the rules of the SH3 / 4 Engine ... TC max. = 1024

I know it had something to do with the Tanker and Destroyer collision but I have never seen the game zip a ship out of the way of another ship like that before. Plus my torp just vanishing was a nice touch to boot.

I prefer Agent Scully.

lukterran, it's a game bug. I'm not sure if it's in the hard coding. I haven't seen it since I've been running TMO.

Lukterran, we'd be curious to know which version of SH4, if you have mods installed, if you know about where you were, and if on a patrol or mission, or what? Thanks.

Running 1.5 with OTC mod only.

Located at where all the sunk merchants ships are in red on the map.

Special Agent Mulder here.

This one sounds rings bells with the 'Philadelphia Experiment'. An experiment in Philadelphia carried out by the US Navy in the WW2. The experiment was based on Einstein's Unified Field Theory. The aim was to bend light to render the ship invisible. There were reports of the equipment on board that was not properly re-calibrated. In spite of this, the Navy continued the experiment. This time, the ship Eldridge being used for the experiment not only became invisible, but she disappeared from the area in a flash of blue light and teleported to Norfolk, Virginia, over 200 miles away. Eventually the experiment was drop and crew members involved may have been subjected to brainwashing to keep the project a secret. Looks like in your case, the Japanese caught wind of the experiment and may even made their own teleportation device.

Case over

*Cue credits*

Well it is official that little bug has corrupted ever save file after it occurred. So I had to basically erase all saved games after this little problem and start from a time prior to it.
