Default Got Windows 7 Ultimate

Costs $439 If I may ask how much is Win 7 Ultimate edition selling for in America. Just curious as **** its dear.

Anyways installed today took less than 15 min, now adding games/appz and one or two drivers.

How to enable the 4gigs of ram, as like winxp only 3gb is allowed for Windows 7 32bit. I know I would need 64bit but isn't there another way?

May I ask two stupid questions? Too late!

Why Ultimate?

And why 32 bit??

US price for Ultimate... http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=all

/edit:
Wait! The Ultimate comes included with both 32-bit and 64-bit.

So question 2 should read: why use the 32-bit version?

Stupid question number 3

PAE = Physical Address Extension this can somehow work with the 3gb limit on 32bit making it run on 4gb somehow. Im googling more to fine out.

Why Ultimate?

Cause its the best edition out of them!

Why 32bit

I would had to upgrade the processor to 64bit first. Brought the pc over christmas before I brought Win 7 I checked the Enviroment Variables in system properties under Processor Architecture its x86.

Well at least Directx 10 runs now. Tried it on Crysis last night. Beautiful.

Best? but they are identically... except Ultimate comes bundled with software for connecting to company networks a.o.

Which I would later have asked you about, how it is to work with.

For a home pc these functions are really of no use....

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e/default.aspx

And then I must ask what cpu you have? Can not believe 32-bits cpus are still being sold?

2 x Intel dual core Xeon 5130 at2.0 Ghz EACH.8.0GHZ Dual 771-pin LGA Sockets 2 physical CPUs, 4 physical cores. Sockets Supports Intel 64-bit Quad-Core Xeon Processor 5300 sequence.

Ive always done it this way. With XP I brought XP Professional not the lesser editions, With Vista I brought Vista Ultimate edition which I had running for about 6 weeks before I reinstalled XP. And now with Win 7, I mos well stick to my method so brought the Ultimate edition. *shrugs*

Um Kiwi...if you have Xeon 5130s in your machine...they're 64-bit processors...they'd run x64 Windows 7 just fine.

http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27216

You were probably getting x86 in the runtime because your current environment was x86, not x86-64 (or x64 for short).

For the record though, PAE would enable all four GB of RAM, but at a significant speed reduction...you're better off torrenting a 64-bit copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and then using your valid license to install it (yes, I know torrenting is generally frowned upon here, but there's nothing illegal about this so long as the license is valid). For the record, Windows licenses can be used for either 32 or 64 bit software interchangeably.

My pleasure, Kiwi...hope you enjoy the 64-bit goodness!

If you have any more questions/problems, just let me know. I've been using x64 OSes for a while now (summer 2008, when I upgraded from 2 to 6 GB).

Actually, you just want the upgrade version. I've been upgrading my PC's at work and this version is still the full version like all others before. Cheaper to.. I really only needed the Pro version because have no need for bit locker, but the store I was at made me a deal on ultimate.
