Default Summer 1943

Summer 1943

Research

Western allies test for Shamrock, getting a 2, and Bangers, getting a 4

European Axis tests for Schreiender Adler, getting a 4, and Elektra, getting a 5

Weather

There are monsoons in parts of Asia, notably Burma, Thailand, Malaya and French indochina

Diplomacy

Ireland is tested and rolls a 3. 8 axis DPs and 5 allied Dps results in a 6. Ireland so far declines to get involved in the war, despite strong anti-British sentiments.

Japan

Japan puts an airbase next to Noumea and stages 3 AAF from Guadalcanal to Noumea

a little later on the Japanese TF2 arrives in the vicinity of Noumea to provide air support for the attack on Noumea

The allies decline to oppose the attack and the TF provides ground support from it's NAS to assist the assault on noumea town

The defense is a 2-3 defense value= 2(defending),+1 Mountain,-1 one turn out of supply=4

Attack= 4ground factors 3AAF +3 NAS=8 total attack = 2:1. Japan rolls a 3. An Ex-1 result. Japan loses 2 factors, Noumea falls.

Default Russia

The increasingly exhausted Wehrmacht launches an offensive in Russia, with the main weight of the attack around the south central zone. A secondary attack is in the area of the northern forests

Finnish troops manage to destroy a soviet armour unit in bloody fighting in the far north

In the supporting attack further south, Red Air AAF prevent German ground support from accomplishing the mission, but nontheless the ground forces demolish the defenses

In the southern sector, although successful in the air and on the ground, the large numbers of Russian armor divisions prevented truly damaging exploitation and the attack petered out quite short of the objectives provided by Berlin.

attrition

Japan attritions communists and kills 1 counter (a 5)
Japan verses nationalists and kills 4 counters (a 6)
Germany versus allies in spain 35 factors, 0 mod and rolls a 4, a 3C/2H result and manages to restore supply to some of the isolated units

Operation Saturn

German army intelligence have been long forecasting this day. Soviet general Zhukov launches the first Russian counter-offensive in this summer of 1943

There are some massive airbattles

Around F46 4 Russian AAF face 5 German and Finnish AAF

Russia rolls 10 mod 9=2/3
Germany rolls 6 mod 7=2/3

Around the center, 9 russian face 10 German, italian and french

Russia rolls 9 =4/5
Germany rolls 9 =4/6

In the ensuing attacks, breakthroughs are made in the north and center for fairly low russian losses
