Ehh we don't really use aprons anymore. Or protective clothing at all. Seen some people on motorbikes only wearing shorts, a singlet, thongs (flip flops for you Mericans) and a motorbike helmet. That's it.

My favorite plane after the P-38 and the A-4 and the F-18 and the new F-35 and any Martin seaplane lol

I can't figure out the tail art however due to this is a US Navy plane

Technically it's VF/VFC-111 who has the 'Sundowners' insignia, but the title of VFC-111 has been passed around a fair bit, as you've said, at the moment it belongs to a subsection of VFC-13 based out of Key West.

I've seen this pic several times over the years but haven't found any story behind it. Just a P 47 attacking a flak tower in Europe somewhere. As close as he is, I don't think he could have pulled up in time to miss it. Anyone know what happened to this aircraft?

I think he'd probably have broken right looking at his attitude and approach there. It's most likely perspective tricking there.
