In England, there is a legend that in the Tower of London, "if the Tower of London ravens are lost or fly away, the Crown will fall and Britain with it".

There is a person called the Tower Ravenmaster, who with his staff, takes care of the resident ravens making sure they are happy and safe.

Currently, there are seven resident ravens in the Tower, but during the bombing of WWII, all but three of the ravens died from either bombing or stress; the survivors were Gripp, his mate Mabel and another raven named Pauline. Mabel and Gripp soon "disappeared", however.
