For me, not even close as scary as for example Amnesia or Outlast.
It is more about tension rather than pure terror.

Did made my hands sweat here and there though...

Yea tension and suspense are the main focus. In particular when time your move down a corridor or other open space while the alien is active you hope that you gussed its pattern as you make your move. Keypads and other interactions are fun as time dose not freeze. Will you recall the passcode or cut the door open fast enough? I have been caught mid task afew times.... hey I just stopped by to give you a hand it will be much easier after my inner mouth removes a grapefruit sized chunk of your brain.

In my case it mostly tried to help by ramming its tail through my abdomen, obviously just trying to reach the keypad to type in the pass-code...

Maybe it never was evil...just misunderstood?
I mean...did anyone actually tried talking to it?

Make love, don't hide!

First you wait inside a cramped, likely smelly, egg for god knows how long.
When you finally do get out, you are forced to quickly find a "partner",
but this relationship is all onesided. It's you who have to take care of everything,
like providing oxygen to your other half. And then, you die.

Roughly 24 hours later, your baby is born, but you are already dead, so sucks to be you, eh?
Anyways, it's a rough start to life. First, again, it needs to wait in a small cramped
space, which just keeps getting smaller as it grows. To the point it can't take
it anymore and is forced to claw and bite it's way through all kinds of nasty stuff.
And what awaits when it's finally free? Either a hysterical woman going "Oh Gaaaaawd..."
or some idiot with a flamethrower!

In the unlikely event there are no "complications" during birth,
it doesn't get any easier. They make fun of T-Rex and it's small arms.
Yeah, try being a small snake, with two tiny arms!

No wonder they are so pissed.

You also have acid for blood so if you get cut you destroy your surroundings and have you ever seen a first aid kit that is acid proof? Guess what they dont make any.

Good review, totally agree and also gave it 8/10, for the same reasons.

Have to say though, I would rather be playing the alien, and causing terror and mayhem

Well after playing the main game, last survivor and crew expendable I agree with Angry Joes review. I had one pesky part in mission 16 where the alien always seemed to spot me (the stair well) finally had drop to easy to get past that section. My other gripe would be the inventory why cant it recall the item selected when the save was created?

Sceptical.
I played survivor mode once and didn't really like it.
They should release story driven DLCs (I know this is supposed to be with a story, still I'm sceptical it will deliver and won't just serve as lure) and not "be the fastest, cause that's all Alien is about, being super fast, beating scores!" duh.

Well, let's see.
