The issue with TC and weather, as I recall, is that in SH3/4 certain functions are checked less often or not at all as TC is higher and higher. As I understand it, SH3/4 were designed were computers were less powerful than today.

As you increase TC and stay long period of time on TC, you will notice the week long storms. That issue was fixed in SH5.

When on patrol, I never go over 256/512 even when transiting from port to the patrol area and go to 1xTC every 4-8 hours. I have never had a storm last longer than 48 hours and most are over in 24.
