Bugger! I missed the 'Win 7 64bit' part.

Nocav, what is your install location for SH3? Win7 will not let you alter/modify any files within the Programs (any) directory, they are protected.

Force SH3 to install to a location that you choose (avoid the default path). Then patch the game (if required).
Run the game once.
Then try installing GWX (as admin).

To save your sanity (space permitting), when you have a working copy of SH3 + 1.4b patch, copy the entire Silent Hunter folder to a back up location. If you ever need to reinstall, just delete, copy and paste.

Hi Novac. If it is useful, I've just completed a download check and MD5 hash comparison using my links listed via the GWX website. All matched and assuming users downloads are not interrupted, the resultant downloads are still good.

A fresh installation of SH3 patched to 1.4b and a fresh download of GWX 3.0 installed over it, should cure your blues, assuming it is one or more files missing on your current installation.

@danlisa. Long time no see! I'm doin' great and I hope all is well with you and your family. How old is your daughter now?

Thanks, I'll give that a try after work.

Edit - Scratch that, seems nature can kick you in the balls whenever it feels like it. F*ck.

Consoling widows?

Maybe the second will have a periscope!

Just 48 more to go... and you'll have enough crew for a Type IX.

Cheers for now, matey. Hang in there!

My "babies" are 32 and 30 and have babies of their own older than Danlisa's.

YES YES YES!

At last it works

This time I used Lehmanns files but I also did something different with my install of SH3.
I installed SH3 > 1.4 patch > then No DVD fix > Ran SH3 > installed GW3 = Success.

Previously I installed SH3 > 1.4 patch > Ran SH3 with DVD in drive > then No DVD fix > Installed GW3 = Fail

So I cant say if the Jimbuna files were causing the problem could it have been starforce?

@danlisa, Dont worry about my sanity. i went insane long long ago
Thanks to everyone who helped.
When I tried to install after a few years I thought Ive got no chance of support with an 8 year old sim. How wrong could I be!

I dont know if any of you are familiar with a sim called Falcon 4? But that is my main passion. Its been going for 12 years or so and that has been given a new lease of life by people like you. The BMS 4.32 upgrade gives new flight sims a run for there money!

Once again thanks

One of the Grey Wolves Project's best modders, "Ref" from Argentina, did a great deal of work with us... and worked on Falcon 4 before coming to us.

Ref built the Moltenort Memorial at Kiel in GWX, ships like the Brooklyn class American Cruiser, (Before that there were no American cruisers in SH3) and corrected much relating to the screwed-up / incomplete player U-boat 3D models... He also created the Kiel Canal in GWX, the Suez Canal, the Panama Canal, and much much more. Too much to list here.

I really hope he is doing well.

When you get comfortable, have a look at the credits in the GWX manual that Pablo put together for us. The amount and kind of help we were so fortunate to receive... is stupendous. War museums all over the world... people like Pamela Armstrong, and even the British Admiralty. In the end, even a German submarine commander offered his help.

Really glad to hear that you are up and running, Novac. I'm sure that Jimbuna's files are sound too. Sometimes I think SH3 just has an attitude problem.

Sink'em ALL!

Question: I just installed the Grey Wolves mod and had a problem. Four of the mods; Black Sea, English Nav, Indian Ocean, and Merged Campaign won't install without overwriting one of the previous installed Grey Wolves mods.

Just one of the examples below:

"Campaign_SCR.mis" has already been altered by the "GWX - Lite Harbor Traffic" mod.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I go ahead and install the conflicting mods? I tried that and it greys out the mod it affects.

Regards.....

If a new mod has a file conflict with an existing activated mod, JSGME warns you. You then have a few choices; but no matter what you do JSGME prevents your damaging your install since you can reverse the changes at will.
In general, most over-writes are harmless, but some will do real damage to the over-written mod. Most cosmetic mods are harmless. Most mods that over-write the menu 1064 and the campaign files will really screw things up. (Thank you Winston)
As you become more familiar with the files of the game and the mods, you will be able to analyze the files and see what the problems are. You will then be able to merge the files; if possible, choose what you want to change or reject the changes.
Modding makes the PC games much more interesting than the console games. Have at it!
Congratulations Dan and Lisa
