Victor1 1968
I've been playing the DOT mod 1968 campaign in the Nautilus. Against the Foxtrot and Golf etc it is fairly easy, but frequently I find I'm up against a Victor1, he just puts the pedal to the metal goes to 32Kts and outruns me and my Mk37s. He appears to be able to turn on a sixpence.
How do I defeat him? |

Hm. You're basically running a 1950s era SSN up against a 1967-era one. Without knowing how close you start to him, assuming you're putting some distance, I'd maybe start closer and also perhaps see if there's any favorable sea conditions for you to take advantage of like thermals.
My best guess would be to try to sneak up behind him, get in his baffles and close the distance to where he doesn't get a chance to react. But don't take my advice as golden. I'm sometimes known to be wrong. :P |

Yes, I did once manage to get in his baffles and chased him down, he was doing 10Kts and I was doing 20 above the layer. I closed to about 0.8 Kyds and launched a Mk37, but he just hit the throttle and took of and then started his helter-skelter routine, which he kept doing until the torp self destructed.
Maybe I should just keep away from Victors. |
