That's alright for my next boat was USS Pike out of Pearl, and on my first patrol 14000 tons, 1 single ship sighting and 1 convoy sighting. This mod with RFB is a winning combo just want to know when the next 2 phases are coming out.
I love it too, although I've had a very opposite experience so far regarding ship traffic. I'm just returning to Java from my first patrol out of Manila, and I must have seen at least 5 or 6 convoys already (sank 2 tankers and a small liner/troop transport out of the first 3 convoy's I found, but with all the duds and prematures that took all my torps and I've had to dodge the last 2 or 3 convoys after reporting them by radio) as well as 3 solo freighters (sank 2 with my 4"/50 deck gun - the last one was a big one that survived my remaining shells and escaped from me).

I'm returning home with about 35,000 tons, which seems a bit extreme and I'm assuming that it won't continue like this. But the convoys I did see were well constituted and escorted (they were really troop transport task forces more than merchant convoys, which makes more sense for these first few weeks after the war begins) and the escort behavior was impressive when I challenged them for some testing purposes. I've spent a lot more time screwing around testing things than actually playing, so this was the first real patrol I've run in a long time, and the RFB/NSM/ROW/RSRD combination is looking pretty good at this point

I think the combination ROW+TM+RSRD is awesome! Thanks a lot to all modders!
SH4 with these modds is another game, a real sub simulation...

About the ship traffic I can say that I found few ships during my first patrol because I was in the wrong place... far away from the trade route. In my second patrol, I found it and I sunk 9 freighters and tankers for 43'072 tons! But when I spotted a convoy, even a small, attack it was very hard because DD's escort. Have been twice hardly depth-charging during hours...

The game is becoming very-very interesting...

Any idea how/whether this RSRD (version for RFB) can be made to coexist with the Depth Charge Shake mod from NVDrifter? I see that Leovampire has made a ROW-compatible version of NVDrifter's mod, but when I tried to activate it JSGME said that it would conflict with/over-write a couple of the files from RSRD (Bombs.sim and DepthCharges.sim), which I was reluctant to do 'cause I didn't want to lose the work that went into those files for RSRD.

Any chance that NVDrifter's changes to those two files are already included in RSRD (didn't see anything in the readme about that), or that they could be incorporated into an RSRD-compatible version somehow?

RSRD fans and Lurker can blame me for that probably. I focused on the job at hand, and i didnt document anything because it took too much time to do so. Normally i annoated changes to some degree,, but this time i didn't.

I had TM broken apart and in pieces, reconstructed it for patch 1.4, and I changed alot of stuff on the fly as needed or warranted. For anyone working with the TM mod itself, it will make things alot harder for them. This wasn't my intention and i apologize for that.

Anyone know where I can download RSRDC P1 TM v112 or the patch from 110 to 112 ? The links to filefront don't appear to be current.

Thanks,

Just to make sure I understand.....?

1. If I want ROW and TM - I have to use the 1.3 compatible TM-1.6.5 and RSRDC with it is NOT an option.

2. If I want to play TM & RSRDC; I have to use TM-1.7x and one of the current RSRDC releases, and patch to 1.4, and ROW is NOT an option.

The Campaign

Phase II

“Run Silent, Run Deep, the Campaign” (RSRDC) is a major rewrite of the campaign layers of SH4 and is designed to overcome the following major “stock” campaign problems:
  • The various stock “battle” layers (i.e. BurmaJawa.mis, BattleOfMidway.mis, BattleofGuadalcanal.mis, etc) are sub-standard, not only from a ship content point of view but also from a track generation point of view and in my view completely un-reliable from a game play point of view. The reason for this is that these layers are written in a “Scripted” format that is completely unreliable when playing in “Career” mode.
  • The various Taskforce, Convoy, and Merchant layers that are total devoid of reality.
  • The mission objectives are sub-standard and need a major rewrite
  • The Special missions are also sub-standard and need work.
RSRDC solves all these problems:

Installation / Compatibility

Use RSRDC_P2_v200 for stock 1.4

Use RSRDC_P2_TM_v220 for TM172

Use RSRDC_P2_RFB_v240 for RFB

RSRDC Phase II is a Rollup of all changes to RSRDC since release. “DO NOT” use “ANY” Phase I versions with this mod or you are going to get a CTD. Save games from Phase I “should work” with Phase II, except in the following cases:

Narwhal Campaign using TM172. Due to the rework of the Narwhal Stationing at Pearl Harbor ( 12/7/41 to 12/31/43 ) and Fremantle ( 1/1/44 to 9/1/45 ) plus new missions assignments, you will have to start a new campaign.

Campaigns starting at Mios Woendi. The position of this base was wrong and has now been corrected.

Phase II Overall Changes:

The major change is a complete rewrite of the “Single Merchant / Convoys” campaign layers that were originally in Phase I. Using the Senji Yuso Sendan Shi (Wartime Transportation Convoys History), by Shinshichiro Komamiya, RSRDC has recreated 1055 convoys from early 1942 to the end of war and rebuild all the single merchant and tanker shipping routes.

All IJN/USN battles / campaigns / ship movements have been recreated in all theaters from Dec 7 1941 to June 1 1944.

Main Campaign files

(a)XX_Jap_Convoys: These layers have been rewritten from scratch using Senji Yuso Sendan Shi
(b)XX_Jap_Merchants: These layers have been rewritten from scratch from Phase I
(c)XX_Jap_SubHunters: These layers are now 0 length files.
(d)XX_Jap_TaskForce: 41a, 42a, 42b,43a have been rewritten to show the historical movements of major IJN units (BB, CV, CA, CL and Task Groups). The 44a and 44b layers are CA/CL/DD based task groups and are “not” historically correct and are currently “place holder” for Phase III upgrade.
(e)XX_Jap_TroopConvoys: These layers are now 0 length files, IJN troop convoys are now part of XX_Jap_Convoys files
(g)“Battle Layers”: AleutiansCampaign.mis (new layer), BattleOfGuadclcanal.mis, BattleofMidway, BurmaJawa.mis, CoralSeaBattle.mis, NewGuineaCampaign.mis ( new layer) PearlHarborAttack.mis SolomonIslands.mis and EastAsiaCampaign.mis layer are rewritten to provide historically accurate recreations of these battles. BattleofPhilippine.mis, BattleofPhilippineSea.mis, BattleofTruk.mis, and are zero length files and are currently “place holder” for Phase III upgrade..
(h) Revised messages.txt

Special Notes/Known Problems:

(a) For those of you who enjoy “reverse engineering”, if you use the SH4MissionEditor on the “Battle” or “Task Forces” layers, under no circumstances make changes or select “ok” in the “Group Properties” window. If you do, you will cause All the tracks within the layer to longer generate correctly. The reason is that I’m making “hand” edits to these files to ensure that the tracks generate “on time”

Library

Changes:

Bombs.XXX, DepthCharges.XXX and DepthCharges_IJN.XXX have revised settings

Added:

AI_Sensors_AB.dat (IJN Airborne radars)
AI_Visual_Sensors.dat (New visual sensors from TM)

Added a Defense Mapping Agency 5090 Maneuvering Board nomograph. This nomograph is very accurate and I use this in my personal build.

If you do not want to use it, go to the data directory in RSRDC and remove the “Menu” directory.

Default RSRDC

Hi There,
I've D/Ld 2 of the mods, one for stock sh4 (works perfectly) and one for RFB. This is installed over 01-RFB_1.4_for_stock_RC1. Everytime I start a career it CTDs. Am I doing something wrong? The error I get is simdata.dll
Any help appreciated.
