Default What Mod(s) enables mouse to rotate sonar dial?

Playing in a Balao and my mouse no longer rotates the sonar dial when at the sonar station. Likewise, in the control room the mouse cannot change the depth dials. This used to work but I must have changed something and don't understand what!

I hope this helps. I had a similar problem. If you experiment, you may find it works with some boat, and not others:

I searched the forum for any discussion of this, but came up with a blank.

I had NO MODS installed at any time.

Yes, its a stock game bug with the Gato Conning Tower files (where the sonar files are kept) which the Gar, Tambor, and Balao class subs use also.

In the "Downloads" menu under SH4\GamePlay Mods you will find "Gato Sonar Bearing Fix_Stock"..... linked HERE. It will put the mouse capture ability back onto the Sonar Bearing Dial for those subs.

thanks, but i tried that one, and it did not work with the Balao. Perhaps the mouse changing the sonar direction or the depth gauges in control room never worked on the Balao and I never noticed. I know it worked on other subs!

I haven't looked recently, but use the S3D tool and look at the CT *.sim files and try to find the difference in the BALAO and GATO in the modded boats you're using with the values in the CT *.sim file in CapnScurvy's mod:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=4099 (listed in mikesn9's post)

A good and 'cheap fix' is to use Vickers03 BALAO Interior. He has the mouse fix in his interior mods... plus they are beautiful (unless they are not compatible with the mod's that you are using).

Happy Hunting!

I tried CapnScurvys OTC Gato fix but didn't see it work, but, does his fix have to be applied in port?
Don't know how to use S3D(yet), so are you saying the mouse should work on Balaos? If so, then something has changed since I started this campaign and upgraded from a Gato where I know the mouse changed the control room dials and at the sonar station.

Yes, that specific mod should be activated in port.

In the Stock boats, if the mouse was working in the Gato, it should work in the Balao... because in the Stock game, the Tambor, Gar, Gato, & Balao all use the same interior.... and use the same *.sim file.

Some mods differentiate between the Gato interior and the Balao interior by installing a 600' depth gauge in the Balao (changing the Balao deep gauge graphic and the *.sim file) - the 450' gauge being used in the Gato, Gar, & Tambor classes, but I have seen many real life Balao class pictures with the 450' depth gauge. I think in real life they must have dived deeper than 450' by listening to the hull creak and groan, and stopped the dive when it felt 'deep enough'.

It isn't very often that they needed to go that deep unless caught in a heavy ASW attack with no thermal layer to hide under.

Yes the Balao had a stronger hull construction than the Gato and could dive well below 600', however it looks like in real life they installed whatever gauges they could find.

Interesting stuff.

Trying to find what went wrong was too difficult so I backed out all mods and basically re-installed stock SH and re-modded. This resolved the issue I first reported so I'm up and running again. Looking into a few other anomalies which I'll come back for more help later, but thanks to all for answering my questions.
