MechWarrior Thread
I am a longtime fan of MW. Been talkin in chat with Raptor1 and some others about MWO.
Wondering if there any other players on Subsim. I havent played MechWarrior 4 in years and am looking to get back into it.

There are a few that play the new MW MMO beta Archlight I am fairly sure and maybe Dowly maybe Task Force. There are some screen shots from the new game in the screen shots thread.
You might need an upgrade to play that game though not sure I know you need 4GB of RAM you mentioned that your system could not really handle SH5. Not sure with MWO but I know it requires 4GB of RAM.I would try MWO out but I only have 3GB and a 32 bit system. I used to actually play the original game as in the die rolling game they had the coolest books with all the data for stuff not just the mechs but everything. |

Been playing it since the first batch of keys for closed beta went out.
Need a decent rig though, but they are currently doing a lot of work on performance. It really is a beta, rather than the "it's done but we need some hype" betas you see a lot these days. That's really why I didn't start a thread on it; it's perfectly playable, it's (imo) a lot of fun, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Balancing and optimization is ongoing.

Also playing it for quite some time now and as Arclight already mentioned it still requires a lot of work but so far it's perfectly playable no real game breaking bugs.
the only advice if you do get in MW:O better gather up some friends to do the same and create a party (up to 4 People) because joining a group of random people will mostly turn the match into a clusterfudge as your team goes all over the place and you have no one to rely on. HunterICX

I have 4gb of RAM and I have slots on my laptop for more if I need it. The SH5 detection tool says everything checks out except for my @&$?#%* 64mb GPU.
Another problem is my connection. Otherwise I'd be neck high in MWO as it looks very cool. I have the Mech Collection from MS and its got MW4 Vengeance+Black Knight Expansion, and MechCommander 2. That's what I played for years. I'm gonna reinstall on my laptop later today or tomorrow. I want to get MW4 Mercs but once again, Internet is too slow to download. It would take a week to finish.

I just started to play MWO again. I have to say it's improved since closed beta. And they've said no more wipes after this round of beta. So everything you earn now will still be there when the game goes live.

Yep, been playing MW:O for a while now. I concur with the "play with a group" idea, I never play without one.

Well, since we have a thread...
Random bits from some stomping last night; Raptor bugs Hunter with his TAG. And is promptly punished by a PPC to the face. Hunter digs in after Bubba ripped the poor bugger in half. Here we see the illusive and murderous Task Force in the process of stepping in and blocking my shot. Seems to be a hobby. All gone? Moving on. Hunter nails an Atlas in the back with the SRMs. Now you see them... Now you don't. Bit of showing off. The customization is nice even in its current barely-implemented state. If only I had remembered to transfer her over from the Hunchback before we stopped playing...

Right here and it's free.
Note the beta in the name though, as said before, and know that being free-to-play it is grindy. You're limited to trial 'Mechs at first, untill you can afford to buy one for yourself. Trial 'Mechs are basically the stock setups (every owned 'Mech on the field is invariably customised) which really can't compete with custom designs, though a bit of skill goes a long (very long) way. Generally low ammo reserves and heat sinks hamper them a bit.

It should be noted that my amazing weapons fire-attracting powers would have caused me to catch that shot in any case.
I keep forgetting to snap screenshots, but if Arclight's allowed to show off then here's my shiny all-advanced tech Raven in the colours of the 3rd Free Worlds Guards: Normally it'd be the Lyran 3rd Royal Guards or the 1st Regulan Hussars, but the Royal Guards paint scheme can't be made with the palette we have available now and the Hussars' colours are pretty boring...

I still have MW3. Loved the game. Still do. I will try the MW4 free play.
