Government accused of burying bad news over welfare reform
A three-year trial found that sanctions had little effect on claimants improving skills and might even cause harm.

Any attempt by the government of the day to bury any report is not democracy.

YES...And slowly it is getting worst by the year and to many people are sitting there and taking it.

Step one to breaking that habit.

Give it ago and to hell with your PC hippy neighbours.

I don't think it was the straw that broke the camel's back as a number of issues were going on.

Yes UC is a mess and a mess this government must fix as Labour will scrap it if they win, resulting in TAX payer's money going up in smoke. It's all to Clear under Dodgy Dave and Gids who dreamed up UC the planning was awful and the execution of it was like sending claimants to the block for silly reasons.

DUP MP insists party is not bluffing over threat to vote against Budget over Brexit

A DUP MP has told Sky News the party is not afraid of potentially triggering a general election by voting against the Budget.

The Northern Ireland party, which backs Theresa May's minority Conservative government in key votes at Westminster, has made it clear the radical move is on the table if the prime minister breaches their red lines in the Brexit negotiations.

DUP leader Arlene Foster is steadfastly against any agreement with the EU that would leave Northern Ireland being treated differently to the rest of the UK.
Comes down Arlene Foster not some party member, that said it's another cannon shell aimed at May.

The great british brexit robbery

https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...cked-democracy

"We are facing nothing less than a crisis in our democracy, based on the systematic manipulation of data to support the relentless targeting of citizens, without their consent, by campaigns of disinformation and messages of hate.

The democratic crisis is all around us in the era of Trump and brexit.
The systematic unaccountable manipulation of data is a sleepless reality of the digital era about which the public and public bodies remain naive.

The lack of consent goes to the heart of an unequal relationship in which public control is lacking over a too-often lawless and amoral space in people’s lives. The campaigns of disinformation and messages of hate – unchecked and uncontrolled – threaten the rational basis of discourse and policy-making without which mutual trust cannot function."

Brexit is orchestrated.

Of course they did. Problem is that Farage, Bannon and Cambridge Analytica messed with some voters minds before the referendum took place. The win of Trump as the outcome of the brexit referendum have been orchestrated by five people, and this is what is really scary.

I doubt another referendum or whatever would change the outcome now, since 1. those minds still have the opinion implanted in them and 2. no one will admit he has been thoroughly mind-f'd by Farage and his ilk. While the latter still cashes in money for his EU seat A.-hole!
I take it that if the EU still exists in five years, Farage will be in prison.

Prime Minister Theresa May has called for "cool, calm heads" as she insisted a Brexit deal was "still achievable" despite differences with the EU.
She said it was "frustrating" the two sides could not agree how to guarantee no hard border in Northern Ireland.
The issue could not "derail" the chances of striking a deal, she said.
And she sought to reassure critics of her approach that the UK would not end up in "permanent limbo" tied to EU customs rules.
Meanwhile, ahead of a crunch summit of European leaders this week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned a deal was looking "more difficult" because of the border question.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45868503

It's all going to pot, so I take it no chance striking a deal this Wednesday as reported last week.

It looks like the biggest problem for England are its own people. Not Russia, not the EU.
Great time for Bannon and Farage to jump up and (ab)use the confusion.

Well, someones certainly been busy whilst I've been away.

IMO a deal with the EU will still materialise....money speaks louder than words.

Heard that the chances are good, with the EU accepting the plan and giving one more year for the UK to get to grips with the NI border, while an agreement about all else has been reached.

So the UK will be out of the EU but still maintaining customs and trade status for one year, without having to pay for it Have the cake and eat it, for one year.

Money talks, of course. But they wanted out, let them.

^ I'm not sure if that is totally accurate but I'd settle for it should that be the case.
