Is it possible to reduce Hull damage so I dont have to spend 2 months in port for repairs? Thanks for any advice.

The only way in game, as in reality to reduce hull damage is...

... to spend two months in base for repairs in dry dock.

sorry, There is just no way around it. Minor repairs like damaged pumps, torpedo tubes, radios etc can be repaired at sea generally speaking... but serious hull damage (ie you took a bomb hit or a shell hit or a major depth charging) can only be repaired in reality by removing the boat from the water in a dry dock and getting a fully equipped work detail on the job, this is a time consuming process involving workers, engineers, maritime architects sometimes, all of whom have to be familiar with the ship, and capable of restoring it to seaworthy condition by reference to schematics, blue prints etc. The game simulates this by sticking you in port for a long enough time to simulate those repairs.

If i understand your question right, there isnt really a way to fix hull damage at sea using a damage control team or any sort of trickery or slight of gaming hand so to speak

addendum

if you use the application SH3 commander to launch SH3 and manage crew etc... in the options you can set days spent in base to whatever you want ie - automatically 3 days in base rather than what the game comes up with

However - i am not sure if this will over-ride the penalization for days in base if your boat hull is damaged or not.

One percent hull damage one day longer in the base, and two days 2 percent etc.

good info, i dont think i ever knew that's how it was determined.

So limping home with 70% hull integrity means there is 30% to be repaired thus there will be a 30 day penalty added onto days in port.

makes perfect sense. also rules out my SH3 Commander theory. even if you have days in port set to 10, there will be the assessed penalty for one day for each 1% under 100% hull integrity on base return.
