WB:

If the ships or aircraft are already in GWX, should I:

a) Panic

b) Install just the mis files

c) Install both model and mis files

IF I understand correctly (fat chance!), if the model is in GWX it MAY appear randomly, whereas if I install the mis files it will also have scripted appearances.

and of course - THANK YOU!!!

The first choice is always right
For serious. None of WB`s aircraft mis-files touch a plane that orginal came from GWX. All of his files touches additional planes. If you already brought them to GWX you could only use his mis-file. If not you need both and dont forget to bring the planes to airbases! How to do that you will find into the readme file of every of "Testpilot`s planes", also included in WB`s files.

A6Intruder is right.

Where I've scripted an existing GWX or stock aircraft I've noted it in the Readme. If I've used a fresh aircraft model but it already exists in GWX, you'll need to enable the model as well as the .mis files otherwise you'll CTD as each aircraft has a unique ID and the .mis file is linked to that ID, not the name of the aircraft.

Enable bbw's Wilhelmshaven, then extras v2.4c, then cut the extra .mis files into bbw's campaign.

I'll be honest - I hadn't even heard of this aircraft until I came across the model for it.

By the start of WW2 (that was 1939, for our American colleagues) the Seversky P-35 was liked for it's ruggedness but had proven to be poor in performance terms, particularly when compared to it's contemporaries such as the Hurricane and Bf 109. Seversky was eventually forced out of his own company and the firm was rebranded 'Republic Aviation' of P-47 Thunderbolt, F-105 Thunderchief and A-10 Thunderbolt II fame. The P-35's primary role in WW2 was home defence around Sweden.

I have discounted those ships listed in the extras mod files as added by that mod.

I still get a warnings for Ark Royal

"CV_AirPlanes.dat" has already been altered by the "Extras for the Wilhelmshaven campaign v2.4c" mod.
"CV_AirPlanes.zon" has already been altered by the "Extras for the Wilhelmshaven campaign v2.4c" mod.

and Kent

"Thumbs.db" has already been altered by the "Gerome's FNS Strasbourg" mod.
"Ship_Planes_Walrus_T01.tga" has already been altered by the "Extras for the Wilhelmshaven campaign v2.4c" mod.

from JSGME - Can I safely ignore them?

A microscopic possible error in the Strasbourg Readme - it says to:

"Add the line BB Strasbourg=FNS Strasbourg"

Should this be instead:

"Add the line BBStrasbourg=FNS Strasbourg"

I've only used one set of CV_AirPlanes files, so you can safely ignore the warnings.

Thumbs.db is a random error that I keep getting as well, but it has no bad effect on the game. If someone could tell me how to get rid of it I'd be grateful! Ship_Planes_Walrus_T01.tga is another one you can ignore.

Try changing it to the latter and see what happens. If you see the Strasbourg and it's called 'BB Strasbourg' instead of 'FNS Strasbourg', change it back.

After creating the *.rar archive open it, check every included folder for Thumbs.db, highlight it and hit the 'Delete' button or key [confirming 'yes'] - that's it.

I had a horrible thought... My campaign_SCR file is 9280KB. I naively thought you must have huge quantities of mods installed - but do you mean 8200KB?

In which case I may be in trouble!

So far though, everything is fine in the Museum until I get to the German ships when it CTDs.

Hello Wreford Brown,

this is a windows setting. Within thumps.db, all thumbnail previews are stowed, when thumbnails are activated. You can switch this function off, but it depends on your operating system, how to do this. If you tell us which one you use, we can maybe solve this "problem".

Btw, i´ve been following your thread for a long time and i appreciate your great work although i haven´t got the time to include all your great extensions. But this will soon be the case. I´m sure i´ll enjoy it.
