Default Open Outer Doors problem

Suddenly, the Icon with the Weapons officer that allows opening of outer doors has disappeared.

Any ideas on what might have happened and how I can restore it?

There is an icon? I've never seen it or heard of it. I always use the 'Q' button or take the WE's place and open them myself.

Did you recently use a new mod? This does not happen by itself.

Yeah, I did. I used FB New Interiors, but then deleted it.

That's what I mean...the WE no longer can open outer doors.

Go into silent hunter \ data \ .cfg. You want commands_en or den if you are German.

Using notepad, select edit and select 'find' type 309. At least for me it is 309. This leads you to open tube doors command. The original coders turned this off with a ';' in front of the commands. Delete the ';' then go to 312 and delete those as well. Save this and It should allow you to open close tube doors.

If this is not the problem, and you are using a Gui like magui or OLC, then you have to go into those mods cfg and do the same for commands_en there.

If that works let me know.

Note that if you are using a gui then both commands_en for game and gui must be edited as I mentioned above. Hope that works. Also, if you turn on and off whatever gui you are using, this resets the editing you did. You will have to do this again.

I'm embarrased to admit that I'm not sure what "gui" is.

I hope all this "fiddling around" with settings is going on while the u-boat is in port and not in the middle of a patrol.

In other words do you use someone else's version of the periscope or do you use the stock version? If you use the stock version(no mod) then just go to what I said at the top. Forget what I said about gui. Gui is the user interface. Basically all the buttons you press on the screen with the mouse and such. You can download modded versions of this. I happen to use MAGUI F. CTU is right. This should be done in port. But from my experience I have edited commands_en while on patrol and no problem. You be the judge.

I'm using the stock periscope, I am on patrol at the moments, and won't make any major changes until back in port.

Sounds good. Just let me know if it works for you. I have been doing a lot of modding lately, and had been playing with the torp doors quite bit. I would love to hear how it worked out for u.
