Default ONI-208J for Silent Hunter.

I'm working on my own version of the ONI-208J for Silent Hunter, but before I go off and reinvent the wheel there is one question I'm hoping someone here can answer. Do the ships in the ID book represent actual Japanese WW2 hull forms or were they modeled specifically for Silent Hunter? The reason I'm asking is that the Converted Factory Ship looks suspiciously like a Troopship with one deck missing.

I'm attempting to identify the ships in the ID books by actual name based on the images in the ID book and the tonnages given in Silent Hunter. If these ships are actually all fictional, then that makes my job slightly harder.

Thanks!

Christopher

I have an ID book for SHCE. It was done as a Window's help file by Jason Busby (1999 copyright). The version (b/w) which I have is free. There is supposedly a color version available for $6.50 USD which I did not think worth the money to me.

If you want I can email the one I have. PM me if interested.

Someone here on the forums had found the 3 oil tankers. The Oil Tanker could be either one of the following classes...

Hayasui class 18.300 GRT 16.5 knts Fast fleet tankers built from 1941.
Kazahaya class 18.300 GRT 16.5 knts Fast fleet tankers built from 1941.

The coastal tanker is most likely one of the Juyusen class ships, 906 GRT 11 knts. I haven't found a picture of this one yet.

I found the Armed Merchant Cruiser this morning. It's probably one of the Aikoku Class ships, most likely the HOKOKU MARU. The ship's stats in SH are Length: 490 ft, Beam: 66 ft, Draft: 26 ft Displacement: 10,400 tons, Max Speed:21kts.

The specs of the Hokoku Maru are:
Displacement: 10, 438-tons, Dimensions: Length 492', beam 66.5', draft 41', Propulsion: 2 Mistsui B&W diesels, 2 shafts, 13,000 shp, 21 knots.

Armament: 8 x 5.5-inch (140-mm/50, 2 x 3-inch (76-mm) HA guns, 4 x 25-mm AA, 2 twin 13. 5-mm MG (2x2), four 21-inch (533-mm) torpedo tubes (2x2).

Aircraft: 2 Type 94 Kawanishi E7K2 "Alf" reconnaissance floatplanes carried atop the hatches of Nos. 4 and 5 holds aft.

The picture of the Hokaku Maru looks just like the ship in SH even with 4 goalpost masts.

You don't! That's warez and that will get you a lifetime ban from Subsim.com.

You can try the store here on Subsim.com, or you could try Ebay, or you could see if your local Electronic's Boutique has a used copy they can sell you.
