As long a as ship has a roster cfg in the roster folder (in the appropriate nation), and a ship folder with all the assets (in the sea folder) - then it will appear in game (Actually I Simplify somewhat. It may also need such things as sound assets, equipment DATS etc... But for the purposes of this discussion let us just say roster and ship folder at minimum to appear in game) It needs no entry in the names cfg to appear Far as I can make out the names cfg is used for three things, and three things only 1. What the ship will be named in the recognition manual 2. What the ship will be listed as in the Museum 3. What the ship will be named in your 'Ship Sunk' messages, in the captains log If a ship does not have an entry in the names cfg, then it's name will default to whatever the ship cfg in the sea folder is called That is why we have some oddities in FOTRSU like NACA_3 and TL_01 They were never given their own entry in names cfg Hope this makes sense EDIT Just add entries for the missing ships to names cfg, that should work just fine

I never open the rec manual for allied ships - so I will never see this Others may not want to live with this - their choice

That is my way of thinking also. I play America vs Japan in the game and nothing else. Like the boss mentioned and I found out you will see a German merchant in amongst the Japanese ships on occasion. I started a new career last weekend. Left Pearl, stopped at Midway to top of my fuel tanks and headed to an area just south of Tokyo Bay as my patrol area. Wouldn't you know the first two merchant ships I saw was one Japanese and one German. It seems Maddy because he is German felt the need to include some German ships on the Japanese side. No biggie. I think when the Japanese Maru mod is completed it will need good Readme file explaining the situation.

Does my explanation of the names cfg make sense? Basically a missing ship is no big deal, just add it to the names cfg to give it a name.

Perfect solution in my book. I agree about not opening the rec manual for allied ships anyway. Some of them may be HMS Boaty McBoatface and I wouldn't know it.

Then the platform library lives in the mission file, telling which ships want to be in your game. Now suppose the mission was composed in FOTRS Ultimate but you're playing stock. The mission has the Bismark in its platform library but your game doesn't have that ship available. It, of course, won't appear. But you will receive that error message, which means nothing to nobody.
We're the first people to my knowledge that discovered that the Mission Editor uses whatever mods you have loaded at the time of mission creation.

Did you have the extra ships addon activated at one point?
And now maybe you have un activated it? Just a thought EDIT - or possibly a touch of mod soup from using JSGME to un activate and reactivate things many times Happened to me last week - so I deleted my install and copied over my 'Pristine Backup' (many thanks for that piece of advice RR )

EDIT: I mistook what your where referring to. The ten addon ships have caused me no problems sofar. It's since I've been playing around the Japanese Maru naming mod the the thing about the platform library has pooped up.
