Just my 2 cents guys. Since the new rectangular view is supposed to represent the shape of the external lens (which imho is correct and accurate), then the ZEISS logo should be removed.

er so is everyone happy with this new mod. Can we non-modders go ahead and start d/ling and installing cause this one certainly deserves to be an official add-on. We now have a reason for using the obs peri. Is the link on the first page still valid? There seems to have been some trouble with it previously.

Currently the menu_1024_768.ini file uses the same TGAs for both scopes. This will lay down the foundation in the menu_1024_768.ini file so that you can use seperate TGAs for the scopes. Open up the \data\Menu\Gui\menu_1024_768.ini file in Notepad and make the following changes (we're only changing the xxxxxxx.tga name):

Now make a copy of your \data\Menu\Gui\Periscope.tga and rename it to \data\Menu\Gui\Obs_Periscope.tga

Now make a copy of yuor \data\Menu\Gui\redmask.tga and rename it to \data\Menu\Gui\obs_redmask.tga

Now the foundation is set. You can either copy over the just made tgas with new tgas for the observation periscope or enable new ones with JSGME.

If you'd like to center the zoom level to just above the heading bar make the following changes to the menu_1024_768.ini file (there's a change listed for each scope):

- for observation periscope (this moves the zoom level to centered right above
the heading bar):

[G2B I132]
Name=Zoom
Type=1029;Static text
ItemID=0x2B060009
ParentID=0x2B060000
Pos=290,-25,46,19; was 37,-274,46,19
Color=0x66B26680
Font=1
TextFlags=0x4

- for attack periscope (this moves the zoom level to centered right above the the
heading bar):

[G26 I132]
Name=Zoom
Type=1029;Static text
ItemID=0x26060009
ParentID=0x26060000
Pos=290,-25,46,19; was 37,-274,46,19

Holy crap... er got all that, just in case there are some who dont want to muck around with files etc or carry out mild programming,
will the final d/l have all these features already done and all you had to do was select what you wanted and put in Jsme?
Just asking for Vadars sake..............................

Wow. That's the holy grail for me! It annoyed me so much. Great job.

Here's the one I made with wider FOV based on new style background:

http://rapidshare.com/files/46542568...r_FOV.zip.html

I took Church's new scope 'style' and added it to the new instrument background from the what-ever-it-was instrument mod. I then cut out the inside portion of the view finder (the part that's fuzzy around the view) so that annoying bit is gone. I also had to move the Zeis logo to a new position. I then had to edit alpha channel for the new wider FOV made. Here's the TGA file picture:

Dimitrius07 - I can't speak for the scope itself because that's Church's work, but feel free to make any changes to the redmask for it.

Are you using the stock GWX 1.03 menu_1024_768.ini file? If so I can send you one with the changes needed already done for you.

Be sure to at least move the zoom level for the observation periscope to a new position. I proposed a new position a few posts back in that big write up of how to make the necessary changes. If you don't move it you won't see it!

Ok! I tryed your version - looks good but you need to made a little correction to a transpartire edges of the scope, (i hope you don`t became insulted). Anyway i respect what you done.

I also think that the transpartire edges of the original Church periscope is a little bit big. I think i will try to work on that one.
I will post some screenshot later
