GAR, that's the one. Strange that they would not work when surfacing, submerging or while submerged.
Are they automated?

1 How do you stop the periscope using the command bar and not page up/down??
Seems to go all the way without stopping leaving a large conspicious length of periscope sticking outta the water. 2 When using the TBT to get range(Not using manual targeting) then using the deck gun and setting to that range the shells invariably fly way way over the target. So somethings either wronh with the TBT range or the deck gun range. 3 Also at the start of the Torpedo School Mision the Japanese Plane that flys overhead seems to always crash on the island behind you for no reason.

Career mode, 1943, pearl harbor (new career) South-west of the carrier docked at port is a cruiser or similar ship anchored, that has no (thus black) textures except it's turrets. |

Frame rate drop occuring with patch 1.1... theres somekind of translucent "Box" floating on the sea... if you look at it, the framerate will drop to about 6-7 fps...
Happens randomly and is very annoying... also: Soundbug of somekind... but dunno which sound it is... Pressing "a" key gives me a CTD.... So far for 1.1.... |

The (now withdrawn) patch seems to have fixed the sound bug for me, and also added the welcome option of starting your patrol outside the port area, so you don't have to spend half an hour leaving Pearl every time. My crew now tells me when something is damaged (even the hull, which has separate "bulkhead" icons in the damage control screen now).
I played one combat patrol, and had some oddities occur. I was bombed by a plane, dove and leveled off, only to find that I couldn't maintain my depth. Blew the tanks and surfaced, to find that it was dark and the plane was gone. After a few hours everything was repaired except one diesel engine (out of four?) which was all red, and I could not persuade my damage control crew to touch it. Since there is no way to use only one engine, or use the electrics on the surface (although the batteries magically recharged - wind power?) I dove to periscope depth and carried on. After a few minutes my sub sank for no obvious reason (no reports from sonar) and I faced a court-martial for sinking a friendly. Posthumously, I assume. At no time during the patrol did I even SEE a friendly, much less sink one. I suppose I might have rammed one accidentally (mere miles off the japanese coast), without my sonarman hearing it... |
