Danelov, did you rollback SH3 Commander before installing NYGM? Not doing a rollback will cause a black sky.

Default Best of Both Worlds ? NYGM over GW?

Ok, I am an old hand at SH3, been playing for years and modding and loving it - but I am new to these forums and my recent play has been interrupted by a year by my - er, real world deployments.

I absolutely play for max realism, on very low time compressions (rarely above 32, except ocean crossing) but I also play for the outstanding atmosphere and look of the game.

So coming back, with IUB and RUB long gone - looking at Grey Wolves and NYGM - both seem to be very good mods. Can they be used together? I know Grey Wolves has had the insight to take some very good NYGM concepts (ala the Damage Model) and incorporate them. But the manual at NYGM is very good and describes some of the realism concepts to the base game.

Specifically, has GW addressed "hovering" submarines, or premature detonating and deep running torpedo's? I also saw a question in one of the links concerning an explanation of GW 24 and 8 hour fatigue mods, are they imported from the ole Real Fatigue (I think I saw that in the readme.

At any rate, both mods are worlds above where we were a year ago - well done!!!

Can you mod NYGM with JSGME over GW's without crashing it? Would that be redundant? I have searched the forums and haven't seen a good compare/contrast thread - or maybe that would be inappropriate given the amount of really hard work put into each.

I would like to close by saying, if you know the answers to any of the above, please help an old salt out. I am sure all of the above should be known to me, and is somewhere in these forums, but after several hours of searching, I thought I would just ask!

Agreed, it would be nice to combine the two mods for maximum realism and eye candy.

Unfortunately I had a major problem with the campaign and without much option for vanilla campaign files that dont mod anything else, Im now trying to decide on the two major mods.

Dont want to break them. Nothing worse than getting half way through a campaign to find it doesnt go any further and have to find what's causing it without a debug log.

One thing I have noticed. Is I skipped over 2 years of the campaign in upgrading my boat. I went from mod 1942 to mid 1944 by changing boats and installing all the new parts that came online during that time.

Default A Sinking Sub

Hello, I am a big fan of NYGM, and love the mod and what it has done for the game. I am also running a game without NYGM installed, and wanted to know how to import just the "sink in place" portion of the mod.

I cannot stand playing nearly any version of the game with a hummingbird boat, which is funny because I never minded until somebody pointed it out.

Can anybody help me Sink my U-Boat - or point me to the alteration which would help me slowly sink without taking on the whole larger mod?

Thanks in advance,
Yarre Noteware,
U-9.

Default gwx/nygm

would be nice to tie the 2 mods togeher gwx/nygm gwx has some really neat graphics/sound/ship etc etc mods but i still like nygm better i am a 1x player and devoted to realism first n foremost rather play 1x and watch a moon rise than rush threw a mod and be looking for a new one in 2 days i think everyone should do at least 1 patrol at 1x you will be presantly surprized!! so you tc all day and sink 1 ship or 1x and dont see anything--but you will be doing more sound checks and watching your course very carefully

Hello,
I`ve encountered an error with NYGM2.2
I `ve started new campaign, loaded it via SH3 Commander using all the files designed to be used with the mod. My objective was to test the XXI with NYGM and there appears to be a problem.
The batteries are recharging endlessly. In a mission batteries have dropped to about 65-70% and it took over 24 hours to recharge to some 95% and was continuing.
My guess it might be some casual bug, but... that`s just WEIRD. It looks that once used, the batteries cannot reach 100% again no matter how long recharged. And they recharge really, really SLOWLY.

Apart from that everything seems to be OK.
PS I`m using NYGM, enhanced plotting, 6 dials for NYGM and IXD2 skin mods. SH3 is loaded via SH3 Cmdr with rollbacks just in case.

The XXI doesn't work in NYGM!
They took apart some game and "code" mechanics from the XXI to implement them in th rest of the other Boots in-game! The NYGM XXI is broken!

It's also stated in the NYGM Manual!

It's simply not meant to be!

PS.

Oh and update NYGM with the latest "2.4 upade"

Oh I see. Thank you Myxale.

Forgot about this one, probably because I haven`t been playing with this type so far.

Well, technically speaking it`s not that bad. The boat works well yet it needs more specialists than usual - with full asset of mechanics and torpedo mates ( doable with SH3 Cmdr only, to be honest ) everything`s OK.
Except the batteries.
Neverthless, I`ve just dlded 2.4 update. See if it changes anything.

So far - I had one GREAT convoy battle. Managed to get a passenger liner, troop transporter and a C2 tanker and got out unscratched after 3hrs chase. Seems I was lucky anyway as only 3-4 escorts got a contact with me. All other could not find me or got deluded with Tauschkoerper.
Just for such expierience I wish XXI worked well.

EDIT: Checked with 2.4 The same. It took at least 24hrs to load batteries from 75% to 95-8%.
Now that`s a pity. What should I do then to solve the problem ? I guess that a non-NYGM battery fix will affect the rest of the boat, right ? And if so, what should I do...

Sorry mate! The update won't change anything with the XXI.
It's just this; as long NYGM uses this kind of approach to mod the other subs, the XXI will remain "Bitchy" I can live with that, since i'm a totall fan of the Type IID and IXB.

Besides the Update has some cool changes...like some planes in late war that don't use the radar, so that your radar warnings don't light up.

Had a few close calls since then! :hmm:
Damn cool stuff!

Cheers

Bad news for me then...
I didn`t care as my personal favourites are IXB and IXD2 - it`s a special feeling sinking a ship off the coast of Ceylon or Mogadishu.
