Nice to have been able to sleep a few hours in the afternoon to grab the "problems",after having been up 30h.

Actually I'm Firewalker.
Seriously, that's my pirate name for Sid Meier's Pirates. I used the same screen name for the game's bulletin board.

Went to the doctor yesterday; brought up the clicking sound issue; according to the doctor, the sounds may be caused by a number of causes: a side affect of asthma (already alluded to in a prior post); a compression of the lungs and airways caused by weight gain, particularly if you sleep on your back; any sort of physical tearing or occlusion of the airway. The doctor did say if the sounds are causing you to wake up during sleep, they may be an indicator of possible sleep apnea, a condition which can have many serious health consequences, particularly if you have high blood pressure (as I do). I'm going to keep an eye on my clicks if they get any worse...

Well your GP should at the very least be booking you in for a Spirometry test (lung function test) which involves blowing into a tube while a computer checks the readings. This will tell him if he's dealing with late onset asthma.

But if he suspects sleep apnoea then one would expect an overnight observational stay in hospital to check your airways during sleep. This has implications for driving... in the UK at any rate: our Vehicle Licensing Authority have to know that any driver with this is receiving effective treatment... important for your insurance.

The MD does not necessarily suspect sleep apnoea; I don't have the 'wake up in the middle of the night" sort of thing and my bouts of the clicks and whistles (good name for a pub near a railway station) are sporadic and not prolonged, so its all very up in the air at the moment; just have to wait and see before undergoing extensive tests. The pancreatitis is taking precedence; they are trying to determine if it is chronic or recurring and what may be the actual cause of the condition. Add to this the appearance of what is called an essential tremor and I am indeed having a 'glorious' aging...
