All three shots are great, but I particularly like the interior pic. The sailors 'stovepipe' pants and chambray shirt are perfect. Brings back memories.

Lovely! I agree about the sailor's clothes; otherwise the interior is exactly what I expected - a direct carry-over from SHIII quality-wise, and that's a compliment since I don't think we could hope for a more detailed interior than SHIII (but we could hope for more compartments!). Really gives you a sense of being on a bigger boat - ain't no Type II

And the normal mapping really improves the look of the water, that's very good.

I don't see the 'wet hull' effect I saw on the previous ones, though... was it just concept art then?

Also, am I right that SHIV took a cue from mods and has a much longer view distance? The shots look like they use our beloved 16k view mod

Aren't the textures sharper?

Oh, and ships didn't have shadows in Silent Hunter III, did they? And now look at that huge black specimen by the US sub in the harbour shot! Is that a warship super-structure or am I missing something?
Nice either way.

Oh, and imagine if shadows are drawn on the sea-floor, too. Imagine the huge shadow of a battleship creeping across the sea-floor...

SHIII didn't have shadows, that's true (and a pity). I hope seafloor-drawn shadows are modeled... sweet

Has it been said if the entire interior of ships are being modeled or just a few of the stations?

The Devs haven't told us anything that shows clearly if they will model the full boat, or just the same stations as in SHIII (I really hope they'll model the whole subs this time).

Except the nice pictures blues under water ,
I don't like the others pictures, too dark, "artistic" and not realist.

Thanks, now I can wait until 2008 or more.

I noticed....: Do we actually have to unfold the diveplanes manually before diving in SHIV? or will it be automized? What do you think?

It happens automaticily when you dive a XXI in SHIII, so it would most likley be the same in SHIV.

I'm getting excited from the new screen shots of SHIV. It's looking good! The dev's said it uses the same graphic engine and SHIII, but overhauled to improve frame rates and appearance.

I'm already saving for it, just have to get permission from the in-comming commader in chief (my future wife!).
