DAY 1 TURN 2

729th RGT / 709th INF DIV vs 507th RGT / 82nd AB DIV

Amfreville

(see post #13 for the starting positions on this one)

I'm tired and encoding the videos that I shot from the match takes too long, so you'll have to go with written AAR on this one.

I decided not to hold on to the church that I captured on the last match, instead I went with similar plan as the last time, box Arc in and have him attack.

I didn't take any AT guns with me this time, could come in handy when I meet his tanks rolling out from the beaches later on in the campaign.

We made contact immediately in both South and North. South had maybe 3-4 squads near the intersection, my Marder there kept them at bay, but lost one MG42 squad sadly.

In North, after the initial contact with Arc's engineers I assaulted the northern town with a squad of grenadiers, also fought back Arc when he tried to capture the church and manned it in return. Lost quite a few men during the assaults, but IIRC, the MG42 squad I lost in South was the only fully KIA squad from my side.

After the first few assaults from both sides, it became more of an trench war in North, with both sides shooting at eachother from their positions. MG42s drew the longest straw on it, sweeping the buildings Arc was positioned in, killing quite a few of his guys.

South sector was rather uneventful, Arc was on the east side of the village, I was in west. I tried to approach his SE flag with a few squads from North but decided to cancel it so to not lose any men trying to take it.

My game crashed as the match ended, but the forward observers reported seeing the allies running like puny wabbits; Total victory for the germans.

Woohoo!!! I have COI,WAR,TLD and LSA. Not a bad series of games at all.

I'd also recommend Panzer Command:Winter Storm and Panzer Command:Kharkov

Hi Dowly, nice reports

What version of the game do you use?
V5.50.07 or 5.50.09 beta?

Don't even get me started on that problem. PC gaming is dying my ass.

DAY 1 TURN 2

WN 72/716th INF DIV vs 116th RGT/29th INFANTRY DIV

Dog Green

So, another beach map. Again, as usual, not much for me to do here, except to watch Arc capture the front flags I left undefended. I decided to defend the cliffs South and North of the map and try to lure Arc to the narrow path leading to my last flag.

The game started with Arc blowing up my other AT gun, which kinda sucked.

Then my mortar managed to hit two out of 20 of his guys who were running all bunched up in the open, that sucked a tad more.

Then Arc ate, nom nom nom.

After that we had a smoke grenade battle, I call it draw.

Then Arc blew up my 88, which wasn't very nice.

88 being in pieces I called for some running exercises for my men, blindfolded and to the general direction of the enemy to end this goddamn map.

Total Victory for Arc

Aye, guess they weren't properly warmed up when the .50cal started flying.

Bad time to pull a muscle, when running for your life.

DAY 1 TURN 2

WN 66th/719th INF DIV vs 115th RGT/29th INF DIV

Dog Red

Another beach map with tanks. But this time, lady luck was on my side. I decided to take a more aggressive stance with having both my 50mm and the 75mm AT gun on the high ground where they had pretty good view down to the beach. Also, I planned on holding Arc so that he couldn't advance past the depression running the whole lenght of the map.

The battle started with Arc rushing his men towards the group of buildings just behind the atlantic wall, I held fire as both of his Shermans would've made minced meat out of my positions.

Only my 75mm had a good shot at his tanks, with 50mm needing an rear or side shot to be able to hurt them. At 29:34 mark, Arc lost his first Sherman to my AT gun, the other one was still out of reach for the 50mm and buildings blocked the 75mm's view.

At 26:24 mark, I still couldn't get a shot at that second Sherman and Arc's troops had just moved over the wall, so I gave the order for my troops to fire at will. The closes MG34 opened first backed up with few mortar rounds, soon the rest of the squads opened up towards the buildings and the circular bunker south of them inflicting heavy casualties on Arc.

This however didn't bog down his assault, he used 2-3 squads to get to the circular bunker, I counted atleast 17 WIA/KIA laying around the bunker, after my 75mm and MGs opened up on them. Don't know how many got inside the bunker, but some got. At this time he had moved his second Sherman to my field of fire and after few shots from the 50mm, it was reduced to a smoking wreck.

On the center sector, Arc assaulted one of the buildings with an engineer squad, I gunned many of them down before they got inside. They were (AFAIK) later killed.

After the first clashes we just held our positions and exhanged some shots, he kept my MGs suppressed and I tried to flush him out of the bunker by shooting it with the 50mm.

With just over minute left, Arc managed to capture the Southern most flag ninja style, never saw his guys there.

Try to make something out of it. (Arc's movement approx.)

Arc moving his men out of the beach, first Sherman seen burning top-right of the screen.

Arc assaulting the hotspots of the map: the WN68 flag and the bunker south of it.

Arc got to both destinations but with quite some losses. Second Sherman seen burning bottom of the screen.

Arc lobbing naval barrage on my MG34, the squad was credited with 10+ kills.

And the bitter result.

That map is bloody murder. Perfect defensive line with overlooking positions in the rear. Sincerely doubt I can ever push beyond that one bunker and the few buildings within reach.

Not without armor and 1 of the 2 .50 cals out of action, at least.

Should have focused center and North, sweeping through that trench.

Aye, it's gonna be hard for you to make any progress without armor on that one. I have clear line of fire across the open and if it gets hairy, I can retreat to the hills which would be very hard for you to assault. Tho, I don't have troops to spare for any counter-attacks, so all the ground you can get going to be yours to keep.

Atleast I can play some time here.
