Any reason(s) why? I know their thrust can't be controlled, and their ISP is not so great (although its ISP is deceptive as the entire unit is more efficient overall than it appears as its dry weight is considerably less than a liquid fueled system when considering the weight of the tank and engines). They are also cheap and offer a lot of power. Which is why they are so popular in reality.

I don't think a MMO realistic space sim is possible.
If you remove any one of those words, then yeah it's possible. But with an MMO, you can't revert, pause, or accelerate time. And if you make it realistic, then you can launch your vessel, and wait 3 years for it to reach it's destination. |

Can you imagine the traffic jam thousands players would create in orbit? not to mention all the debris stuck in orbit (or the griefing potential of debris). Then of course there is all the grinding typically associated with MMO's and other annoying mechanics.
Multiplayer would be a good idea though, with friends not pickup games. But KSP is looking at adding multiplayer some point in the future, though probably not this coming patch as they are working on migrating to Unity 5, and I hope a stable x64 release soon, which would be absolutely huge as we would no longer be limited by the 3.5gb memory cap when it comes to mods. I do believe I have now, officially, gotten too carried away with mods.
30+ mods, 15 minute load time.... sigh..... |

My interstellar quest game in v23.5 was running with, I kid you not, over a hundred different mods (and had a 15 minute load time on a crazy fast ssd). Now, some of these mods were rather small with just a handful of parts or were just plugins, but I still had to run the game with that heavy texture compression mod just so it could even run for a couple of hours before crashing due to memory leaks. The load times were super fun as well, even on a really fast ssd. I had actually started out with even more mods, but KSP was getting too unstable so I had to trim them back. I also hand edited about half of them too, either to fix problems or just to rebalance everything, or trim out parts I didn't want. The funny thing though, is that was only about half the mods I would have wanted to add if I could. This is also why I want a stable windows x64 version, so that I can throw on as many mods as I like and not have to compress the hell out of everything. This is also why I have not yet moved past v23.5, as I just haven't had the time (or willpower) to go through all the mods again, sort them out, rebalance them again with each other (last time took me 2 months) and in the new career system, update some of the old ones I still want to use, and so on. I see though your playing around with the one set of mods I doubt I will ever use in KSP, the armory mod. I just don't see the reason to bring weapons into a game that is about peaceful space exploration. The ship mod is fun though |

I'm not worried about the number of mods.
I'm worried that I made a 14 monster-truck-wheeled Fleet Destroyer with an M1A1 turret, that will do 126 kph on land, 18 kph on water. |

Well with all the crazy stuff people make in this game, I barely even noticed. |

Just bumping this thread to say how awesome this game still is for me. It's still got a few bugs, but it still rocks. That is all.

Indeed its a purchase I have never regretted and got tones of hours spent in.
The only down side is when one of your favorite mods stops being supported, or waiting for all the mods to catch up with the newest version. |

Yeah, major version releases have started to bug me. Right before all my mods get updated, they go and release a bug fix patch, which requires me to wait for the mods to catch up again.
But at least they are supporting and working on the game, and they fully support the modding community. |

I will say, this is probably my favorite PC game ever purchased. I haven't reached a point where this game gets dry like a lot of other games.
Also, as an added point....Aerospace Engineering students at my university that specialize in rocketry use this game to do homework. That means its rocket-science approved by a top engineering school.
