Same thing goes for our banknotes:

I remember when I came to the US in 1982 and passed round a £20 note for some guys to look at. They were amazed how big it was and one of them said "All our bills in the US are the same size, so blind folks can't be sure what they're handing out". I'd never thought of that before... why is a $100 bill the same size as a $1 bill? And do you still have dollar bills? We got rid of our £1 note and replaced it with a coin years ago.

Yes, they are all the same size, and the same colo(u)r. And yes, we still have the $1 bill.

HA HA! ! I carry two £10 notes from my past England visit in my wallet. I win cheap bar bets with them. When someone implies I'm a little on the hefty side I ripost: " I can lose 20 lbs 'at the drop of a hat'!...if challenged for a nominal $5.00 bar bet; I calmly place the wallet in my sombrero and drop the hat on the bar...The varlet's amigos are usually so amused by the joke they make him pay off so as not appear to welch in public. Naturally, I stand the next round with the proceeds ( cheap Hamm's) and toast: "the Queen! God bless 'er!

Yeah, I've noticed a strong contrast when receiving goods from the US

Got into an argument with some rich moron that thinks the valley is his private race track.

Like I don't deal with rich morons monday to sunday at the boatyard.

I got to stop giving these people reasons to interact with me. Seriously, they repulse me when they are not in arrogant toad mode and ignoring me, and I ensure myself I'll have to have the full ''quiet poor peasant, I am wealthier than you and that means I can talk smack even if I'm the one being a moron'' monologue.

I should have my vocal cords surgically removed.

Sitting here in the man cave prior to going to work and received this from the boy which made me feel a little envious.

"Lovely day out in Venice eating Gelato and drinking frizzante!!"

Had a great practice with the new band yesterday, and we are officially a band now, because we have a drummer finally. A lot of work ahead, and it is work because staying on my feet for four hours is a real pain these days.

This is also the fourth day in a row I've stayed up until 0200 and slept in late.

Well my week did not go to plan as I was struck down very fast with Flu. A week I rather forget and move on, just hope I make a full recovery before going back to work.

Bashing my fingers against the keyboard, restraining myself from typing a lenghty insult to Skybird on the terror thread.

Maybe I'll pull the LAN cable from the PC, put a movie on and polish the chakmak and karda.

Default Feelig downright 'chirpy' this AM!

Well I couldn't sleep anyway; and then my "ears-of-a-fox" wife informed me that a smoke-alarm was going off...somewhere in the house. A neat trick I can't do (deaf 65 year-old ) as the door is always shut to keep out the pesky love-starved cats at night. So, out we stumble (04:30) to hear which one is 'chirping' and replaced the 9V battery in the one in my 'mancave'....NO JOY...still chirping...After an interminable period, another chirp from the front living-room: sho' 'nuff' it's the oft forgotten state-required monoxide alarm down low, plugged in an electrical wall outlet behind the damn piano. I Removed two slightly corroded AA's from the offending gizmo and secured same! I'm now hopelessly wide-awake: Piano's back in place; made the coffee; and blogging while awaiting the morning paper-an unplanned start to the day!
