Such a fantastic game.

Also a good example of how strict hand holding ala modern games is not needed.

"I need Dreamstone to finish fixing the sword, but the rock has not been found in years."

Hmm.. I got a gate that goes back to pre-historic times...

"Goblins are strong enemies, but weak without their wooden hammers."

Hmm.. Maybe I should use a fire attack first...

I have to share what I just experienced in Prison Architect and what I posted in the Steam forums - initially to get help for that situation.

I dare to say it's worth a look for those who play(ed) Prison Architect.
At least I am next to mind blown. oO

BTW I accidentally linked on page 2 of the whole mess, make sure to not miss page 1 of the disaster.

Well, it depends who/what you let in. Like my latest DF AAR fortress ended: I forgot one little thing, which lead to the death of everyone.

Have you unpaused yet? Maybe you could try to wall him in?

If you do, google the starter pack, it actually got some graphips instead of ASCII.

Personally I would suggest sticking with ascii as I feel it really adds a lot of character to the game and enhances its uniqueness. I do suggest changing tilesets http://dwarffortresswiki.org/Tileset_repository
My personal favorite is the Anikki tileset as it is a very clear yet simple and clean.

I suggest you start off here and use the guides, just don't read too much of the wiki as it can spoil the experience.

Dwarf Fortress is like no other game ever made, and I suspect it will be its creator's life work, in that I think Tarn Adams will be spending the rest of his life working on it. It is perhaps the most ridiculously complex game ever made.

If you want to get a taste before starting I suggest reading the Boatmurdered saga to get a feel for what the game is (even though the game has changed much since then)

If you have any questions feel free to ask in the existing df thread or start a new one, me, Dowly and others here know the game quite well.

Unreal World is another fantastic game, though it is about individual survival in the Nordic lands during the iron age/middle ages.

I might check out DF later, for the moment I am too busy with too many games that all want to be played and getting back into the A-10 after 3 years isn't as easy as I thought it is.

But I like the new(?) kneeboard-customization function where you can put in all kinds of useful checklists and data... 'for those longer sorties'.

I'm sorry but that's unacceptable...you're an A10C, not a carrier aircraft.
