UK Politics Thread
As on the election thread this rule goes for this one as well.
You want the freedom to sock it the Tories use this one.. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...93711&page=255 This one is the serious UK Politics Thread FIRST TOPIC Leaders for Labour & LibDems OK, the dust has settled and most of us are still in shock. As we all know Labour and the LibDems are now looking for new leaders of their partys, who do you think would be best? For the LD's I am going to honest I just can not see who could take over now. There seems to be this black hole now in the LD's, I would have said Vince Cable as the caretaker leader but he lost his seat and I just don't see anyone even doing that job. Labour on the other hand I can see only two possible runners, first David Milliband and that is going to be a long shot as to date he has said nothing on the matter and the other Andy Burnham who strikes me as the best of the possible contenders. Yvette Cooper is damaged goods being the wife of Ed Balls, Chuka Umunna tricky for a couple of reasons. Liz Kendall is the first to put her name forward seems so-so. SECOND TOPIC Is it time for voting reform? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2015-32686721 I would have to say yes, we have two small party's UKIP & Greens between both of them have done modesty well at the GE & LE elections. Time for PR yes in my book, lets get rid of the FPTP system its now finished.

Labour is having a mini-reshuffle of its own, and doing it rather poorly.
Sadiq Khan has been returned to the back-benches and Lord Falconer comes up as Shadow-Justice Secretary, this would be the chap who failed utterly at being 'Dome Secretary', wanted to make it harder for people to get access to Freedom of Information Requests and said that certain articles should be removed from the internet during trials. Hilary Benn has come up to Shadow Foreign Secretary though, that's good, keeps the Benn dynasty up front. Chris Leslie comes up as Shadow Chancellor, no doubt ready to continue Gordos work, and the only surviving Labour MP in Scotland becomes (unsurprisingly) the shadow Scottish Secretary. In other news, Lord Alan Sugar has resigned from the Labour Party. On the other side of the floor, John Whittingdale has become the Culture Secretary... Meanwhile, the first EU challenge to the Tories approaches: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32685942 |

By all means add the EU migrant crisis and for you guys up Scotland SNP in Westminster. I think these are the four top stories at the moment.
On the subject of the EU migrant crisis if I was a betting man I would place my bet on Cameron falling into line nodding his head yes EU we will EU.

I guess it all depends on how long it is until the Tories start infighting over Europe. I believe making Michael Gove Justice Secretary is an overture to the party's Right Wing in the hope of keeping them on side.
As for the SNP, it'll be interesting to see if any rifts appear between the "Radical" and "Gradualist" arms of the party. I'd say that the latter have the upper hand at the moment. Here's the BBC's take on the party's new MP's: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2015-32579722 Mike.

Cameron has made Michael Gove the new Justice Secretary.
I find it highly amusing that one of the darlings of the Tory right is actually a Scot. An Aberdonian by adoption (he was born in Edinburgh to an unknown single mum), as a matter of fact. So calling Gove a Bastard is actually correct as he is indeed an illegitimate child! Mike.

David Cameron has been busy choosing his cabinet, but Sam didn't approve.
'I wanted a walnut one' she said, 'to match the wardrobe.'

So the Conservatives have 330 seats,
Although in all fairness 300 of them are taken up by Eric Pickles.

I see David Milliband has spoken even at this point he has ruled himself out but if there was a By-election.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32697212 It dose seem socialism in the Labour party is over as the general public thinks its a dirty word. Moving on the Libs we have the first contender Norman Lamb, I'm sorry but you don't look like leadership material, maybe as a acting caretaker while the search goes on. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32698777

I don't know about the internal going-ons of the SNP but can we expect the SNP to roar at Cameron in PMQ's?

Quote:
On the SNP's two wings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundame...nd_gradualists It's effectively a Left/Right split, but the SNP's known for having extremely tough internal discipline. So far very little "dirty laundry" has been aired in public, unlike Labour and the Tories. The quest for independence unites both halves, if it occurs it's possible that the SNP will split in two. A brief history, courtesy of the Beeb: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...itics-26924026 The SNP are also decidedly Teflon coated - very little sticks to them. Mike.

They've had thirty years of the media decrying socialism as all that is wrong with the world. In a way the mass strikes of the '70s turned public opinion against those who were striking, and then Maggie neutered the Unions and the media did the rest.
