.23 is amazing thus far.
I haven't gotten to far yet, just Mun and Minmus landings. Best feature that's affected me so far with this is that you can transfer data from science modules/equipment to be stored in your command pod, which means if you do a Mun landing for example you can do your tests and not have to actually cart the modules back to Kerbin and land them safely and instead just store all the data in your capsule and just return with that. |

Yeah, I can understand under those circumstances. Steam can be a tad demanding at times. Have fun with .23! |

So...yes...this happened:
My first manned mission to Duna hit a snag when the lander came down on a slope and fell over, unable to right it I tried to get it to take off again and destroyed everything but the capsule. So, two more missions were sent to Duna, one manned, to try and make a more upright landing, and one unmanned with a passenger capsule to rescue the three stranded Kerbals. The first one in Duna capture was the manned mission, so after a long and painful orbit insertion burn (after which I'm dubious if I'm going to have enough fuel to land, take off and get back to Kerbin...) was settling into an elliptical orbit when I spotted the unmanned mission approaching its periapsis, and switched back to the space center and then to the unmanned mission. The above picture was what I found... No idea how I managed that, the solar panels were powering the probe just fine...but it gets worse, after a few minutes trying to figure out what to do next, I decide to switch back to the space center.... Which is also a black void... So I quit the game and restart it, the space center has returned but the unmanned rescue mission to Duna has completely vanished. I expect it to return at some point full of hellspawn from a hideous alternate dimension, at which point I will rename myself the Union Aerospace Corporation and send Jebediah armed with a chainsaw and a shotgun to deal with the problem. |

Oberon, thank you for finding this thread so I don't have to.
I am in love with this game. When i first saw you guys playing it, I kinda just brushed it off and ignored it....but WOW! This game is awesome! I've just got the demo, which is like...version 18.3 I think. Sadly, I cannot save designs.... Anyway, I've experimented a bit....and now I'd like help on getting to the Mun. I made a rocket consisting mostly of rocket boosters (According to Raptor1, one must have MOAR BOOSTERS) and I was able to make it past the Mun. Even if I crash on it and my command module blows up, I still made contact with it. Anybody have any tutorials or advice on what to do to get to the Mun. All last semester I played two little games on NotDoppler.com (Best flash game website ever) One was: Into Space! The other was its sequel: Into Space 2 They aren't sims...but it held my interest in my free time (and every other time since I know how to use Microsoft Word and Excel) all year. Recently they released a third one called Into Space 3: X-Mas Story that I'll probably play this semester. I wish I could get KSP on a school computer though. KSP is like mashing up these three games together and adding detail. I had dl'd Orbiter last year but never figured out how to play it.....KSP is a great game that isn't as hard to learn. My only problem is the price...I'm sure it'll be on sale again at some point. I would like to NOT pay $26.99 for this....maybe more in the 15$ range. Anyway, help getting to the Mun would be appreciated. Any other tips, tricks, advice and things of the sort would also be appreciated.

I downloaded the demo last week, and been playing it a pretty good bit. I believe i'm hook on it now, lol. It will be the first game loaded on the new computer when it comes Friday.

Anyway, getting to the moon old school (before maneuver nodes): launch rocket, try to get as close as possible to a 90° orbit with at least 80km altitude, circulate shortly before "mun dawn" (when mun rises behind Kerbol), burn prograde in orbital view untill your path comes close to the mun, crash onto surface The kerbal wiki has some good tutorials, just as Scott Manley's YouTube channel (don't get discouraged from watching this guy, he's a Kerbal-wizard) Be warned though, the mun will soon be in private hands, as soon as Bill plants the Koka-Kola flag on the surface. Intruders will be drowned in black, karbonated sugarwater: Yay Kapitalism! Here's how the vessel looks when it's lit, a kitschy nighmare in red and white: |

Thanks Penguin!
I'll try and make sense of what you said later in my next session.

With the changes to the science modules, it had killed all the fun for me. Pretty much given up on it for this update.

I honestly think KSP is worth every single penny, and I am someone who is reluctant to pay more than 10$ for an AAA game. You can potentially spend more time in this game, than almost any other.
You have an entire solar system to explore, do whatever you want in. Plus the game is not even remotely close to being finished yet, there is still a ton of things they are planning to implement and polish. and then there are the mods... mods like these ones... http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/...417#post666417 http://imgur.com/a/GGbuP#15 http://imgur.com/a/WqjQM#0 http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/...topilot-v2-1-1 http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/...-%289-27-13%29 and that is only a small sample Anyhow here is some assistance, first off scott manley's tutorial videos http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...-O2ak6mBYXWPAL The wiki is here http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Main_Page Second here is a rocket that can easily get to the mun (and can back if you do not waste too much fuel landing). It has way more fuel than is necessary and in fact could probably reach Duna (KSP's equivalent to Mars) http://www.mediafire.com/download/zl...un+Craft.craft To use it, put the craft file either in the <root game folder>/ships/VAB or into your saves file in the same spot (saves/<game name>/ships/vab) It uses some tricks including what we call asparagus staging as the liquid engines feed into each other in a kind of s shape. Lastly I would try running the program as an administrator or not have the game folder in program files, that may be why you can't save ships |

I have been burning a hole in this game the past month.
I got lots of cool screenies, but I have to go through them. Plus I am really close to putting men on Eeloo, though no return or rescue planned. I want the group shot to be the first one. As it is now, Bob screamed nearly the whole way, Bill frowned alot, but had his open mouth screaming moments. Jeb cackled gleefully on a very high G burn. Oblivious to the fear of his mates. Using a Kethane mod, makes long trips easier, and lets you get really ridiculous in rocket building. I owe all my fun in this game to Scott Manley. It was a bit over my head with the flying, and I learned alot about space travel in the process, and a new gained respect for those who do it for a living.

Jeb walked 2.5 km for this.
Note the look on Jebs face, he has respect, even if he knows not what he respects. Mind you his lander tipped over when I got back, I launched it sideways, blowing off every battery and solar panel I had on it. Luckily the engine survived, and Jeb got back home. Bill and Bob think the "Armstrong" race of people are very interesting. (0° 40' 36' N 23° 28' 11' E)

Some nifty stuff coming along with that. New "authentic" (not a clue what that means in context) NASA parts, and imho most interestingly a robotic arm to grapple stuff.
* which that article already stated. Enthusiasm > reading comprehension.
