Firing :





Peabody
made us a dedicated double 6 inch gun with all relevant files and sounds (not a pea shooter this one !) notice how different it is from the stock 4.7 inch, different crew too.

it uses Sledgehammer 6 inch 3d model.

I'll make a dedicated parts T01 texture and an AO/uv maps for all 3 parts so it doesn't come out black.

but we now have a Narwhal with its real life guns !


still have to check the 3d model against RL pictures.

the game model :


@ Sledge : I guess this is a clone of one of the guns in the gunsradar.dat ? I did that at first too when I made the IJN 5.5 inch DG
(visible here : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...141869&page=25), but I had to add a lot of details to it : those pentagonal thingies really are wheels in RL.. etc...

I can make a clone of the one you see in the RL picture
here above like the one I did for the IJN

rendering barrel AO map... boy does it take time...

the finished gun 3d should really look like the above - any blueprint, good pictures welcome (that's how I made the original IJN 5.5 inch gun)

Kelt, That is a clone, per se, but I made an all new gun because the original 3d models were really polygonal, and I don't think many people would apreciate a pentagonal gun barrel

but please, by all means, improve on what I've done, I don't mind at all!

I proceded in the same manner with the IJN 5.5 inch single and double DG.
at least the cloning gives us a size estimate, but I need intel on the Narwhal's 6 inchers !!!!
I know that as it is it works.. how far do we wanna go ?

let's go for ultimate realism, those guns sound absolutely vicious

I was afraid you were gonna say that...

look at picture here above then that's how I do it in 3DS

but eventually I'll need that little IJN flag on the gun texture !

15 cm x 53 cal = 795 cm in length - breech included or excluded ?

seen here above is a cylinder 795 cm in length 15 cm in diameter (= normal internal diameter of the gun, not outside diam)

see how big that is respective to the 6 inch ingame clone ?

I guess breech included in the length then !

Hats off to you Keltos & Sledgehammer427, until I started working on my skin I didn't realize how long it takes to do one. And I am only doing the skin I can't image the time spend building one from the ground up. Keltos how many hour have you put into the Narwhal?
