Well...
In this patrol I went to see at Lock Ewe October 20, 1939.
I arrived on the back and I watched with the camera.

There is nothing, absolutly nothing...

I don't know if I will meet the Home Fleet one day...

I've missed the meeting at Lock Ewe...

Desperate, I am back to the North and arrived in AN11, october 29 in the night, I was lucky: right ahead and coming right on me, HMS Hood, HMS Rodney, HMS Nelson and a lot of secondary battleships !!!

They was at 17 km but not so fast: 15 kts.
At 15km they are changing their road and I do the same, full ahead(8 kts lol) at -13 meters.
Afraid missing again....

At a distance of 7 500 meters, I fired a salvo of 4 torpedoes, three T1 and one T2.
Then I dived very low(160m) making a half-turn at 1 knot.
And now, just wait...

I could not believe that I would perhaps have her.
My heart beat fast and I was very impatient, three days I was waiting for !

And finally impact Herr Kaleun !
Wonderfull, 3 fatal impacts on 4 torpedos from 7 500 meters !!!

What joy !!! I was crazy at home and repeat often: "I sank the Hood !" really like a child.

You know, it was probably the greatest moment of my subsimer live !

OK, pics now.
Sadelly it was by night and you must probably increase very much the brightness to watch something.

Before attack

Preparing Attack

Fired at 7500 m, now just wait and hope...

Tic-tac tic-tac tic-tac...

The first impact

The second impact

Now, fantastic pics in the destroyers's light

That's all.
I'll make a video but...I was so busy that I started the camera too late !

Congrats on the sinking of the Hood.
My only battleship has been the Nelson at Narvik and I paid for it with my boat and crew.

Cool screen shots. I'll have to take alook at the video later when I have a little time.

Did you manage to slip away from the escorts without any problem?

Yes, absolutly no problem.
No one depth charge, nothing, only the light rocket lol.
As you can see on the video I was far when the Hood sunk.
You know, make fire at 7500 m let you many time to escape.
And also an other thing very important: DD's can NOT still long time too far of the other battleships !
HMS Rodney and HMS Nelson continued their way and was very far quickly.
The DD's followed them and let me alone.

Hi, don't You find it a little of cheating? I don't suspect that originally Uboat captains were aware of "home fleet" movements. Well, it's nice to sink Nelson or Rodney, but....

Of course, it may happen that You will meet some battleship during your patrols, but it will be more like an accident than a planned meeting. Unless we assume that german Inteliigence official is hiding under Churchil desk

What must I do if I meet the Hood or some other battleships ??
Escape ?
That was not cheat, I meet her by pure luck, I try a difficult attack, fire from very long range(never thought that it was possible 'cause sometime I miss a ship at 2000m !) and finally I have succes.
Where is the cheat ?
I can tell you: I don't play in 100% realism, "only" 74% and I use F12.
That's "cheat" ok.
If the rest is cheat too, I don't play never more.

OK, i got Your point, but You misunderstood me - please see this whole thread - it was opened to help find Home Fleet warships during SH3 gameplay. In my opinion, refering to historical data to "ambush" battleships is cheat, because actually You have no right to know where those ships might be (well, in general, maybe yes, but it's not precise data). Unless You find by them by pure luck - as You described - and that's obvioulsy ok.

Ok copy 5/5.

And you right: if I know the story and the approximated location of the Home Fleet it will be cheat a little.
In this case, we are all cheating. Right ?
Everybody knows where was Royal Oak, Bismarck battle, etc...
But precisely, I have start this thread because I had never meet battleship before although I knew a little part of the History...
