He's a Siberian Husky nearly 12 Human years old.
That's pretty much the end of days age for them.
If it was the old days? He'd have died or been put down by now.
But he's my best friend and follows me everywhere as best he can.
He eats, goes outside to do his business, then lays around the rest of the time.
I do not have it in me to put him down until I know he is in pain.
The toe nails do not bother him so I don't mess with him over them.
PETA and others could put there unwelcome nose into how I care for my best friend I guess.
But they don't live everyday of thier lives with him. I do.
I see that he is fed before I eat, and there have been times when I went hungry and he did not.
He has been to the Vet more times then I have been to a Doctor.
It will remain that way until Storm or I pass.

I feel your pain.
I have a labrador retriever named Aros, almost 11 human years old. He has a ''fat pouch'' (for the lack of better translation) on his left side and half his teeth have been broken off because the furry idiot has a love of chewing on rocks for the past decade. Every walk longer than half an hour will mean he will limp for a day or two, so bad his joints have become. But he still has a love for life, doesn't give me an impresion he's suffering even I know he's in pain. Still playfull like when he was a pup, still jumps when I show him the walkie collar. But those days will end too soon.
People tell me to put him to sleep, end both of our suffering (I want to live on my own, start my independent life but simply can't go from the house without the dog). But I can't. I dread the day, hoping he would just pass one night, unexpected. This is the dog that helped me get trough the lowest point in my life more than a decade ago. This dog gave me a new meaning in life and prevented me from trying to kill myself for the fourth time, which would probibly have succeded....

Hi Jeff, yes it amazes me how you get attached to a pet, be it a dog, cat or whatever!

I had a most unusual cat/buddy that went everywhere I went, in the car, on a horse whilst riding even, we shifted house from country to city and only 2 weeks passed and I found him dead on the road, that took weeks to get over, not that you really do, that was 30 years ago and I still think of him. I've never been as close to a pet since.

Jim can tell you how bad I took Babes problems before she passed.
She flies in the GWX Blimp as my tribute to her.
Storm will be planted in a different Game soon.
Ditto will just continue to be my newest baby kitty for awhile.

Hey Privateer, that Husky just might stick around for some time

I grew up with Retrievers and German Sheperds. They also are said to have a life-expectancy of 11-13. Well we've had retrievers living up to 15 years. But I always wanted to have a Husky. Great character dogs! I hope you will enjoy his company for some time to come.
