In WW1 the Tribal class destroyer HMS Nubian had her bow wrecked by a torpedo, but survived. Later another of the type, HMS Zulu, had her stern destroyed by a mine. Even though not true sisters, and in spite of a 3-1/2 inch difference in beam, the two were mated together and named HMS Zubian.

It was a good day to be at sea... we had already sent a small merchant boat to the bottom of "der channel". While watching the fruits of our deeds, we were spotted by a small boat on patrol. We opened fire as it closed in...

Not to be ran off by a puny little patrol boat we dove after striking a few good shots to the vessel. So we ran, zigzagging across the english channel for around 7 hours only to find this same Elco Torpedo boat... a few hundred meters out waiting for us and still aflame.

I thought it best to put an end to this nonsense and opened fire with the deck gun

After duking it out and getting chewed up a little bit (this boat got the best of my ego and I couldnt "just let it go"), she finally gave up and slowly joined her sister in the locker.

I laughed to myself and thought of the words of Grand Mof Tarken (Star Wars: A NEW HOPE) saying "What? Evacuate? at our moment of triumph? Surely you overestimate their chances..."

Whatever you do, don't fire on it. If that thing starts zig-zagging there'll be hell to pay on the oceans.
