If that's any help - and thanks for your help.

You problem in small Video - 128 M only, but for GWX need 256 M minimum. As I know it's data it problem. If you need more accurancy data - write in russian in Sukhoi forum, so my english is not good.

Спасибо за совет, но я - анличанин! (Кстати, меня зовут Денис тоже.)

I've come to the conclusion that my problems must lie in the fact that my PC has too small a memory: for one thing, it just won't take SH4. I have had GWX up and running before, though; I got warnings, however, that my PC memory was being strained.

I'll just have to update my machine, I suppose.

I do want to clarify my own comments in here, and I suppose this is largely directed to the GWX crew;

I use GWX. I'm looking forward to the new planes and skins. Being a longtime modder myself for other games, and now being closely connected to a major new game (check my sig link); I have a thorough apreciation for the efforts and achievements that have been done with SH3.

My only gripe, was some of the ugly events that I have seen unfold over in the SH3 modding world. I don't think that's an unfair statement, the threads and posts are there for all of Subsim to see.

I'll leave it short and sweet like that, with this last sentence;

Despite our differences, we should at the very least try to co-exist, and contain within ourselves those statements that we know will only provoke and instigate more problems. As a means of respect towards Subsim.com, we should simply ignore or avoid those things we which we do not like or care for. There's enough room here that there's 'something for everyone'.

In the end, we are in fact all drawn here for the exact same reason. Love of the sub sim. We should pause sometimes to remember, this is something that we all share in common.

Finally, while I do stand behind my perspectives, and my statements last night wholeheartedly; I do apologize for my part in the incident.

Cheers to all.

You're seems to be completely wrong with this issue. I have a 128 Mb video card, too - and everything works fine. That's all about RAM, not video memory.

That's what's bugging me! It has run perfectly before even though my video card is 128Mb. I know I should get a more up-to-date machine: my PC can't handle SH4.

My children were recently greatly upset when the Spiderman 3 game I bought them could not run on my PC and the latest Medal of Honor game that I recently bought also cannot run on my PC.

Why?

Because they all need 5MB of memory. But only 3 days ago I had GWX up and running on my so-called underpowered PC. Furthermore, I've since discovered that SH3 won't load properly now; it's the same prob: I get to the black screen and the cursor is there; I wait for the "It was not so long ago.." statement, but no picture or words appear, though the background music is playing, and I move the cursor and it trails.

After having had GWX up and running well the other day, only to be sorely disappointed by it's inexplicable demise the following day, after having saved a mission at sea, I at first thought that my children may have had their hands on the computer after school, but now I think not.

Something stinks in the inards of my computer, methinks!

When I first started out I had a 128MB card....I upped the memory to 2GB but that made no difference so I upgraded to a 256MB and really appreciated the difference

Think my question got lost in the mix. Hope nobody minds if I bump it

Follow these instructions to the letter.....if you fancy a change of file source as well, just click on my sig

1.Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2. Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3. Reinstall SH3
4. If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5. OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6. Download theGWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9. SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Download SH3Commander and download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

I'm bound for the Orkneys now, one day out of Wilhelmshaven!!!!!!

It's running again!

I reinstalled the whole system and used an English Windows XP this time.

Something happened 4 days ago when GWX was running on my Russian XP and I tried to reckon by a process of elimination which programmes I may have added to my PC after that last good run of GWX before it petered out on me. At first I thought that the culprit was an Iobit beta defrag prog that I'd added, but I think the most likely cause for my problems was having my PC permanently connected to Internet: I suddenly remembered how before the crash my last up-and-running GWX was interupted by a pop-up announcing that my anti-virus programme had been updated. And then it crashed, but re-appeared.

Anyway, Im not quite through the storm yet: I've saved my mission on the high seas and later I'll try to reload it. When I last saved and then reloaded, that's when my problems began.

I'm getting a warning that my system is low on memory, although the 125 Mb card in my system is passed as just adequate for SH3.

Any advice out there on what would be suitable parameters for that paging file? I've got the machine running on system managed at present.
