Elmet and Rothwell is yes first time ever my little village as had a Tory in living memory. Due to boundary changes in the last election.

Not surprising when you look at a drop of over 11% in the Labour vote.

I should imagine that seat is winnable for Labour next election though.

I can see a challenge to his party leader position before the next election if there is no improvement in public opinion regarding the policies he supports.

The numbers have been crunched and Toff Boy is back in power, the Labour vote was down on the last County Council election. And it seems the hard line Con/Lab/Lib voters stayed at home along with those who only vote at a general election.

I would be more interested in next years council elections as this will cover more of the country & I believe there is a EU election as well which should see UKIP vote up next year.

Tory MP Nigel Evans has been questioned by the police after being accused of raping two men.

I don't know why there's such a fuss......they've already buggered the rest of the country.

The biggest Tory defector yet:

The former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Lawson, has called for the UK to leave the European Union.
Writing in the Times, he said British economic gains from an exit "would substantially outweigh the costs".
He predicted any changes achieved by David Cameron's attempts to renegotiate the terms of the UK's relations with the EU would be "inconsequential".
But Downing Street said the prime minister remained "confident" that his strategy "will deliver results".
Mr Cameron is facing calls to bring forward a promised referendum on the UK's EU membership.
