One reason I stopped listening to critics is the reason you mentioned. I like to put forward the issue that pushed me over the edge.
On rotten tomatoes the critics gave Boondock saints a 20% and the viewers 91%. Personally I love that movie. It's simple without being dumb (I'm looking at you Michael Bay) and then you read the critics [use posh voice with cognac in hand) ''what garbage, just a sorry parody of Tarantino movies'' Yeah sure, it's like a Tarantino movie WITHOUT the endless dialogues And that makes it better.

Second reason is that today there's an epidemic where it's cool to bash on things that are popular.

Don't get me wrong, I like good action/fantasy/science fiction. But...hmm.

When Patty Duke died I was googling around to find out about her Oscar win and came across a list of movies released that year 1962. Besides The Miracle Worker we have Birdman of Alcatraz, How the West Was Won, Lawrence of Arabia, The Longest Day, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Manchurian Candidate, Mutiny on the Bounty, To Kill a Mockingbird and those are just the dramas.

Yea movies should be..more.

I love how they took the ''fammily friendly superhero action'' of the Marvel movies and flushed it down the toilet.

More grit than ever for a super-heroe show.

And yes, this movies and series are for the fans and they are fun. One must see if the adaptation is good or bad and see if the story also fits the caracthers/universe of.
What you wrote Betonov, reminds me of the cinema critics of our journals, trying to see if The Avengers is a film to compare to the so call masterpieces - citizen cane, and so one (and of course one can argue that: that film is crap for because this or that or that film is the better of 100000 years of cinema), and not criticize how the film is a good or bad adaptation of the source material.

Yeah, it's pretty good, especially for TV budget, and yes, what great fight scenes, wow, a lot like the good martial arts movies.

Doug Walker (nostalgia critic) did a small piece on why critic reviews and audience opinions differ so much.

Never knew that The Phantom Menace had got good reviews from the critics.
Well when saw it the first time, I also liked, then began to see that and this and ended like only the final fight scene!

Happy to hear that you liked Civil War. I will probably go this weekend as the movie doesn't premier until this coming weekend here in the States.

My wife, commenting on the dullest movies while leafing through a DVD mailshot, mentioned Dust Devil. I couldn't recall it so I asked her what happens in it. "Nothing", she said.

I said that if I were marooned on a desert island with a solar-powered DVD player and copies of Dust Devil, The English Patient, The Bridges of Madison County and Doctor Zhivago, I would fix the four discs to the corners and use it as a little trolley. If the DVDs were 2-disc specials, I could use the extra discs as bird-scarers or signalling mirrors.

Yeah, I liked it too, had the right balance of serious and humor, staged the disagreement/fight between the Avengers sensibly. Pretty good superhero film!

What Dawn of Justice failed! Enfim...

Just a question for all, anyone knows or remembers a film with Roy Scheider that he portraits a reporter (I think)?
He uses a nikon F2 + leica m4 (again, I think) in several scenes, I only once saw that movie and didn't catch the beginning and the name so many years ago.
