HUGO
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_(film) My wife brought this home; I probably wouldn't have looked twice at it but I'm sure glad she did. I'd call it a Christmas Day movie. Watch it if you can (produced by Martin Scorsese, directed by Johnny Depp)... beautiful!

Saw it... I was onboard until the climactic scene, Otherwise, the movie was ok. I'm pretty psyched to see this one, they can do so many interesting things with this character.

Saw Deadpool the other week. It was exactly what I expected, so quite happy with it.
A bit heavy on the jokes, but that's understandable as it is an introductory movie. EDIT: Oooh! Jeff.. uh.. Goldblum is enough reason for me to check this out. |

@Neal, about Supes vs Batsy:
I share your opinion in same level. Funny this is during that scene, me and my movie going friend pair (and after so many years of DC comics), never saw that both mothers have the same name. In a sense, base Batman from the on of The Dark Knight Returns could have put the script writers in that position. Since in that story both heroes were old and already knew each other so, fighting or enjoying beers could just be a minute away. I found more disturbing some plot holes and characters actions! But, I liked the movie, found more "profound" that I was expected and possibly if they take slow steps, DC movie universe can rival Marvel in the future, not just next year or the other. |

Rhodes,
yeah, I really had not thought about the same names either, I guess that is worth something. Still, it was pretty hard to back up from where Bats was about to go, to being teammates. Maybe if Bats would have expounded on how he couldn't do it... how he could not go through with it.... well, anyway, I agree, hopefully there are some seriously good DC universe movies coming from this. I really liked Affleck as the Dark Knight, he was better than Bale, imo. Looking forward to his stand alone movie. BTW, have you seen any of the Netflix series of Daredevil?

I'm aware it has a huge fanbase... "nerdy" is in for some years now. I don't see the appeal, but that doesn't matter, taste is taste. However, movies should be...more. |

Not every movie has to be a journey into the philosophical background of the human nature and the world that molds us into what we are.
Sometimes when I get from work and my brain is fried from sheer moronism inflicted by the people that make more money than me, I want to watch movies that are fun and easy to digest. And Captain America, Iron man, Guardans of the galaxy are just perfect for that job. I love the MCU and DC movies despite never reading DC or Marvel comics. Because they're fun. They take my mind off things that would start aging me. |

@ Neal and Betonov:
Yes, do I? Loved the first season, then loved Jessica Jones (thought that it would be inferior to DD, but no and of course, D. Tennant steals the show!) and then DD season 2. Love how the top the fight scene of the first season and then do it again with the prison one. More grit than ever for a super-heroe show. And yes, this movies and series are for the fans and they are fun. One must see if the adaptation is good or bad and see if the story also fits the caracthers/universe of. What you wrote Betonov, reminds me of the cinema critics of our journals, trying to see if The Avengers is a film to compare to the so call masterpieces - citizen cane, and so one (and of course one can argue that: that film is crap for because this or that or that film is the better of 100000 years of cinema), and not criticize how the film is a good or bad adaptation of the source material. |
