Default Modding SH4 v1.5 on Steam Deck.

Greetings,

I have SH4 running on my Steam Deck OLED just fine ATM. I was wondering if anyone has been able to MOD the Steam Deck version? If so how was it done? I just thought I'd drop a line here first before I go down this rabbit hole.

Thx.

I don't know much about steam deck, can you download files from your PC to it? Seems to me that would be the only way it could be done. Mod it on your computer than download the game from the computer? Here ya go: Might this work? https://gamerant.com/how-transfer-files-pc-steam-deck/

I truly appreciate that you took time to find that link for me. I decided to install SH4 on a SSD. I connected that SSD to my PC, copied the MODS dir from a locally installed DVD version of SH4, copied JSGME to the Steam folder and then added JSGME as a Non-Steam game. I ran JSGME using Proton (A Windows emulator for Linux) and did the activations.

And wouldn't you know it. It works. I'll be darned. So I have TMO 2.5 (wTw) running just fine ATM on a Steam Deck. I'm so happy.

Thanks again for you input.

Perfect! Way to go! Thanks for alerting me the steam deck in the first place. I've heard the term, but never bothered looking up what it actually is. Only problem I see with it, is the small screen(I'm old) and the battery life, Let me know how many hours you get playing SH4, I figure it's gonna be on the shorter side toward 3 maybe?

You can hook it up to a dock, HDMI to a monitor, add a wireless mouse and keyboard……. And more.
Perfect for home, and on the go.
