I'm not sure that's it: When one starts a new carreer via the Sh3 Commander, the players birthdate/place, crew# etc. under that new career name, are randomly chosen and stay until the end of that career. My question is, how these items can be changed, once the new career has been launched?

Is there a crew file I could extract and save from SH3 or Commander that I could then paste somewhere for a future save, keeping the same crew?

Good hunting, FUBAR295 Moving old crews to new boats/careers « on: December 08, 2007, 05:30:57 AM » The issue of moving an original crew comes up from time to time. This is the way to do it. - Go to; C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\GWX\data\cfg\Careers\Name of Kaleun Pick the latest Crew_Career_XX from your old boat and open it in "Notepad". Now Mark and copy all the contents in that file: Looks like this example; [CREW_MEMBER_0] Name=Peter Hagemann Index=5 NrComp=0 Type=2 Grad=6 Renown=0.000000 Patrols=4 Morale=0.800000 Fatigue=0.000000 HealthStatus=0 WasWounded=No HitPoints=14.000000 Experience=303.000000 Rank=11 NrQual=1 Qualification0=0 SpecialAbility=-1 MedalsInx0=-1 MedalsInx1=-1 MedalsInx2=-1 MedalsInx3=-1 MedalsInx4=-1 MedalsInx5=-1 MedalsInx6=-1 MedalsInx7=-1 MedalsInx8=-1 HeadIdx=1 HeadTgaIdx=0 BodyIdx=0 BodyTgaIdx=4 HasHelmet=Yes HelmetIdx=0 HelmetTgaIdx=0 VoiceIdx=6 Prom=No Medal0=Yes Qual0=No Medal1=No Qual1=Yes Medal2=No Qual2=Yes Medal3=No Qual3=Yes Medal4=No Qual4=Yes Medal5=No Qual5=Yes Medal6=Yes Qual6=Yes Medal7=Yes Qual7=Yes Medal8=No Qual8=Yes [CREW_MEMBER_1] Name= Index=0 NrComp=-1 Type=0 Grad=0 Renown=0.000000 Patrols=0 Morale=0.000000 Fatigue=0.000000 HealthStatus=0 WasWounded=No HitPoints=0.000000 Experience=0.000000 Rank=0 NrQual=0 MedalsInx0=-1 MedalsInx1=-1 MedalsInx2=-1 MedalsInx3=-1 MedalsInx4=-1 MedalsInx5=-1 MedalsInx6=-1 MedalsInx7=-1 MedalsInx8=-1 HeadIdx=0 HeadTgaIdx=0 BodyIdx=0 BodyTgaIdx=0 HasHelmet=No HelmetIdx=0 HelmetTgaIdx=0 VoiceIdx=0 Prom=No Medal0=No Qual0=No Medal1=No Qual1=No Medal2=No Qual2=No Medal3=No Qual3=No Medal4=No Qual4=No Medal5=No Qual5=No Medal6=No Qual6=No Medal7=No Qual7=No Medal8=No Qual8=No [CREW_MEMBER_2] Name=Josef Hauschildt Index=3 NrComp=2 Type=2 Grad=6 Renown=0.000000 Patrols=4 Morale=0.800000 Fatigue=0.000000 HealthStatus=0 WasWounded=No HitPoints=14.000000 Experience=303.000000 Rank=12 NrQual=1 Qualification0=4 SpecialAbility=-1 MedalsInx0=-1 MedalsInx1=-1 MedalsInx2=-1 MedalsInx3=-1 MedalsInx4=-1 MedalsInx5=-1 MedalsInx6=-1 MedalsInx7=-1 MedalsInx8=-1 HeadIdx=0 HeadTgaIdx=0 BodyIdx=0 BodyTgaIdx=1 HasHelmet=Yes HelmetIdx=0 HelmetTgaIdx=0 VoiceIdx=4 Prom=No Medal0=Yes Qual0=Yes Medal1=No Qual1=Yes Medal2=No Qual2=Yes Medal3=No Qual3=Yes Medal4=No Qual4=No Medal5=No Qual5=Yes Medal6=Yes Qual6=Yes Medal7=Yes Qual7=Yes Medal8=No Qual8=Yes [CREW_MEMBER_3] Name=Karl K‰hler Index=13 NrComp=2 Type=2 .......................etc etc etc. Go to your new career/boat and open the latest Crew_Career_xx file. Mark the contents and paste the one you copied from from the other career. Close file and save. Go to SHIII Commander and open the new career and look into the "manage your crew" and you will see the crew you wanted to move. Thats it. Good luck /OB

My path was a little different to yours but it's easy enough to locate. Interesting file that, when you open it - I might play around with it.

Here are the readme to FUBAR's Crew Skins. He high lights the the possible alterations you can make to your crew with this file, i.e. change faces, uniforms, hat on or off and so on. Have fun. Good hunting, FUBAR295 FUBARS CREW SKINS Thanks to Konrad Krumm for the use of his captians hat, faces and oilskins these make a great addition to this mod Thanks also to Reece for the file of pics he gave me, they were very useful. INSTALLATION: Ready to use with jsgme mod installer or if you wish to install manually the Files are already sorted in the appropriate folders. Just copy them to the corresponding directories in your SH3 installation. But remember to back up original files before you Install. Used a number of references for these skins, pics, books some issues of signal and the film das boot. To get the best out of these skins you will need to edit your crew config files. 1) You will need to make a knote of the names of you four main 4 officers so you will need to start your game and wright the names on paper 2) copy one of the crew config files to your desktop it dosn't matter which one, you will find them here silenthunterIII/data/Cfg folder 3) open this config file with notepad, scroll down and edit the line on each crew member where it says BodyTgaIdx=0 and change the 0 to a number between 0 and 7 changeing this number uses one of the eight skins I've supplied for the crew in this pack (dont edit the main officers theres no need, you should have there names on paper so you can see which not to edit). 4) If you whish to take off a crew members hat scroll down to the line that says HasHelmet=yes and change the yes to no, If you want him to have a hat leave the line so it reads HasHelmet=Yes. 5) once you have finished editing this crewconfig file make 11 copies and name them as list below (NAMES MUST BE CORRECT OR YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS) crew_config_II_1 crew_config_II_2 crew_config_II_3 crew_config_VII_1 crew_config_VII_2 crew_config_VII_3 crew_config_IX_1 crew_config_IX_2 crew_config_IX_3 crew_config_XXI_1 crew_config_XXI_2 crew_config_XXI_3 6) Now put all 12 of your new crewconfig files here silenthunterIII/data/Cfg folder (BUT REMEMBER TO BACKUP YOU ORIGINAL CREWCONFIG FILES JUST IN CASE OF PROBLEMS) ADDITIONAL HELP heres part of one of my crewconfig files showing you which lines to change (just to make steps 3 and 4 clear) [CREW_MEMBER_0] Name=Kurt Kohler Index=5 NrComp=0 Type=2 Grad=7 Renown=1001.000000 Patrols=0 Morale=0.800000 Fatigue=0.000000 HealthStatus=0 HitPoints=15.000000 Experience=400 Rank=11 NrQual=2 Qualification0=0 Qualification1=1 SpecialAbility=-1 MedalsInx0=-1 MedalsCant0=-1 MedalsInx1=-1 MedalsCant1=-1 MedalsInx2=-1 MedalsCant2=-1 MedalsInx3=-1 MedalsInx4=-1 MedalsInx5=-1 MedalsInx6=-1 MedalsInx7=-1 MedalsInx8=-1 HeadIdx=1 HeadTgaIdx=0-----------------change the 0 to a number between 0 and 7 to use one of eight different skins BodyIdx=0 BodyTgaIdx=0 HasHelmet=Yes----------------leave this as HasHelmet=Yes if you want this crew member to have a hat or change it to HasHelmet=no if you dont want a hat HelmetIdx=0 HelmetTgaIdx=0 VoiceIdx=4 7) I've also enclosed 4 jpgs which show what each skin file is called (the line of text at the bottom of each skin in the jpg pics) and put a number in the top left corner of each skin jpg pic, this number is the number you would type when editing your crew config file if you wish to use that skin ie: type HeadTgaIdx=2 would use the skin named 03_Off_Body01_D Hope this is clear FUBAR.

You can change the uniforms skins here also :
BodyIdx=0 BodyTgaIdx=0-----------------change the 0 to a number between 0 and 7 to use one of eight different skins You change and or specify a particular uniform for the crew uniforms found in the data/crew/Body/Body01/ OFF TGA and POS TGA files. Remember that 01_OFF_Body01_D.tga will be 0 (zero) . 0 = 01_OFF_Body01_D.tga 1 = 02 " " " " 2 = 03 " " " " Hope that makes sense. Good hunting, FUBAR295
