I have been to chernobyl and seen it first hand and the duga radar its very impressive indeed my write up here:

Also another name to throw into the mix is Vasily Arkhipov who stopped his Captain launching a nuclear torpedo at the US fleet during the Cuban crisis in 1962

That's another name that needs to be mentioned a lot more in history classes

Indeed i would agree i believe the captain in question was Nikolai Shumkov captain of B39 he and his XO were in favour but arkhipov refused.
