Too Many Officers/Petty Officers Problem

In 1.5 TMO whenever I try to add officers or petty officers I get refused with the message "Too many...etc." This is after I have removed an officer and or petty officer. It won't even let me put back the crew I removed. Anyone know about this? What to do? Thanks.

Oh c'mon guys, am I the only one experiencing this problem too? I swear, I don't have the same game as the rest of you. It's like taking my car to the mechanic where the usual response is "Hmm...never saw that before".

There is something screwy with this feature. Sometimes you can dump one officer of the same rank as the one you are replacing with, other times you have to drop your whole officer staff in order to get that desired officer.

Don't quite know the mechanics of the problem, but it is screwy.

Thanks. Glad to know it wasn't just me. I don't think I'll remove any officers anymore to make room for new ones until I figure this out.

1. Navigate to the UPCGE file in the /Data/Submarine/NSS_Uboat9d2 (works for all other boats as well).
2. Look for these lines:

MaxPettyOfficers=11 ; max number of crewmembers over rank 4
MaxOfficers=9 ; max number of crewmembers over rank 7

Edit them as you see fit. Note that it has no effect on the number of Seamen/Matrosen you can carry.

This is a good point to think about the gameplay problems with realistic settings of 4-5 officers. IMO you can't play this game without a feature to have over 7 officers.
You ran home from patrol, 50000BRT sunk, tons of renown, no ugrades available.
But no can buy crew for getting the stations fully effience. '' too many officers''
And then you see, you ran out for nothing. You sunk 50000 tons for nothing.

Got an issue here, it is a read only file in word, the only thing i can open it with.

I opened, edited, and saved using Notepad. Try that one.

Had the same problem in 2019 and just added the figure. My Petty Officers are standing at 32...not 11
