If I can maintain periscope depth without sinking and the analogue gauges are still working, I will usually resupply at the nearest friendly port and head back out rather than return to base. Especially if it is a long way to and from the assigned patrol area. Those patrols on the west coast of Britain, south of the Outer Hebrides, are a long way from Wilhelmshaven!

Cannot wait for the next one . If you are at all stop you can rest on the bottom by clicking on the dive button . You might sometimes get small damage if the bottom is rocky or uneven . You take your chances , I have escaped DDs this way quite a few times . Scapa is shallow so detection means certain death . I have found with SH5 every new career restart gives different scenarios . I have found scapa easy and then on another reload difficult or impossible . Do you want to sink that battleship and risk your mens lives or sneak away . Do you fire from long distance in the fog using the hydro to set torp direction . What about the CO2 . What is your escape route ?

Hey Shaefer.
What was that you said when you began this series that you were going to take us through to the end of war. Worried about another wreck? Having a nervous one. Now you tell us dead is dead! Peter

1: I stand by my word. I will make it to the end of the war.... without dying. 2: Absolutely not! 3: Nope... 4: Tell that to people whom die in this game..... Making the end of the war is not difficult if you keep reloading, making mistakes right, doing so without dying is very hard.

Interesting point whether Scapa is worth it?
If you have done it before then maybe not. But for a first timer I would say yes it is worth doing. Various decisions to be made. What time should I start my approach? Which entrance. Where I do I start looking for it. Will I have enough battery. Is the weather going to help me? Personally I like to do Scapa and have tried 3 of the entrances. Episode 11 was quite gripping and immersive. Cant wait to see what happens in episode 12. Peter

The scapa bugged out destroyers are annoying . Sometimes they are not bugged out . Its hard to get your head around the no tonnage bar mod . OK , there is no tonnage anymore , forget clicking on the iron crosses on the navmap . You went to the bunker and requested the Eastern British coastal waters mission . If you look on the Captains log you can see your current objectives . EBCW has objectives that require you to patrol an area for 48 hours . This will need to be done without exiting the game or the time will go back to zero (bug) . Sink any ships in EBCW to get renoun and skill points . While you were still on the EBCW you went to Scapa and sunk some capital ships . Nothing wrong with that , you got some tonnage and probably renoun and skill points . However you were still on the EBCW mission , which doesn't matter afaik . You need to go back to the EBCW waters and finish patrolling . Look at the Captins log to see that you havnt finished the first patrol area , remember that you need to patrol for 48 hours without exiting the game . Another patrol area objective will be sent to you . If is correct afaik . The object isn't tonnage anymore , its upgrading your boat and crew and staying alive . They don't call it the happy times for nothing , it wont stay that way .

Regarding the CO2, it builds up about 10X faster than it should according to the gauges. CO2 shouldn't be a problem until the bar gauge on the UI reaches 100%. When the CO2 level reaches 100% (36 to 40 hours submerged) everyone will die. One day I'll stumble across the file that controls the CO2 rate of change for the gauges and put a decimal point in front of the 1.0 value!!

I would like to try adding some waypoints etc for the Destroyers around the Capital ships to make them become aggressive and therefore the mission more challenging. Unfortunately I have deleted all of my save games for this mission and I don't wish to restart a the entire campaign again. Any help would be much appreciated!
