Default Boy am I dumb...

I just found out that the creator of Linux is finnish! I always thought he was French

Linus Benedict Torvalds
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linus_Torvalds

or learn a bit about Torvalds in this documentary a few years old now but still worthwhile.

The Code
The Code presents the first decade of Linux from 1991 to 2001. Besides Torvalds, it includes many of his closest allies in development process, that is nowadays seen as the greatest success story of the Internet culture. Eventually, Linux becomes a viable business solution within the computer industry.

I hope Dowly supports Linux

There are so many browsers to choose from in Linux I can't remember which browsers apart from FF I tried. I was thinking of reinstalling Ubuntu or Redhat on the old pc as shes just sitting there gathering dust, no need for me to dual install on my win 7 machine as I probably would never boot to linux quite happy with Win7, but on the old pc I would at least load linux up from time to time.

For what reason?

Is it Linux OS its too sucky not a gaming platform etc., I just want to click on .exe and its starts installing not go through a maze to get it to run...

You dont support Linus Torvalds and his minons who is a friggin genius in my books.

You dont like the idea that sharing code swapping ideas with the online community, putting out OSes for free is a good thing, its a dog eats dog world nothing should be free and those who put out free software tend to lean more to piracy... So the saying goes.

Or LINUX just SUCKS. End of Story!

The other saying goes something like this: Linux is only free if your time is worthless.

Ok I got Ubuntu 10.4, SuSe which is quite old 2002 version if I remember right and redhat 7 which is an oldie as well. Might give that Kubuntu a try. Problem I always have with Ubuntu is the nvidia drivers it would only accept generic drivers from the disk any other linux driver made the OS crash.

For the fun of it, I made these calculations on Windows XP and Windows 7...

My XP did in total cost me kr. 0,08 per day in use, that's some $0,0155 per day.

Windows 7 have so far cost kr. 1,20/day, that's $0,23/day and it will keep on falling for each and every day ahead...

For comparison I made a rough calculation on gear used...

On average until now it is not less than kr. 24,35/day = $4,70/day

Which actually still is very cheap.
Estimate on smoke per day is some kr. ~120 = $23...

Of course not having a car is a big help... try do the math on such a thing...
