Since apparently the Nautilus could fire Mk. 14s in mid 1942, and the Argonaut even earlier, the Narwhal should be able to too.

Oh I am 100% convinced they carried and fired Mk-14's because they are listed in the patrol reports.
I couldn't get my head around the idea that submarines built prior to the Mk-14's development could fire the five foot longer Mk-14's. However there was a big refit in 1931 and that I believe was to bring the renamed V-boats up to date to be able to carry and fire Mk-14's. The other big refit was in 43 when the power-plant was beefed up and some racks were removed to provide bunks and space for personnel in conducting special missions etc. - a task these big boats were better equipped for. I apologize for leaving my post up there without updating it with the latest however I just came across the 1931 refit yesterday. Now it all makes sense. Happy Hunting! Art

I just D/L'd Narwhal 1.8.4 and my 6" is drooping.
I don't have a program called S3D so I'm guessing an announcement will be made when this is healed, er um, fixed? Looking forward to taking the ol' gal out on a war patrol; this is one beautiful mod, thanks !!!!! Last edited by chris455; 06-03-10 at 04:28 PM. |

I sent an email to Neal with a new version. I fixed a few things and Keltos fixed a few. He is away for a while and asked me to upload it. @Jay Kyster: No flak from me. I am not part of the Narwhal team, just helping out. But the .dat file is not the only problem. It will fix the guns, which as I explained earlier, I was working in degrees and Keltos was set for Radians, that is what created the problem. I didn't send the file only the numbers, so instead of being rotated 180 degrees it was rotated 180 radians, so the gun was very dizzy. Peabody

Is this mod compatible with FOXTRS?
Im currently running FOXTRS with the "pseudal" Narwhal? Is this modded Narwhal compatible? Also, does the crew fire both guns or do you have to fire one? Thanks!

I prefer to let the gun crews fire them - it is really something to see & hear as those 6" guns go to work! Happy Hunting! Art

I know!
But couldn't give him nothing more but the best public available version... Btw. I haven't found anything "wrong" with 1.8.4? Care to share what changes you have made? Running a Narwhal career, but atm. seriously sidetracked by SubRon |

I think I may have found a bug.
I was playing a career, and for my last sub upgrade I got the Narwhal (this was my "shiny, new submarine." Somebody LIED TO ME!!). On my last patrol this morning, I took damage. It said my dive plane transmission was destroyed, but the sub responded just fine to dive commands. It went down when I told it, and stopped where it should. But then I noticed, I couldn't turn! Although I had no rudder transmission damage indicated at all, it's what was actually destroyed. Even after all the other damage was repaired, it still wouldn't turn at all. I had this happen once before, that time with the rudder indicated as destroyed, so I that's how I know what it was, and that the damage indicator was wrong this time. EDIT: I probably should've been a little more clear that the previous time my rudder was destroyed was well before the Narwhal mod existed, and was on another sub. The way I phrased it above could be interpreted to say it was earlier with the Narwhal.
