Default Moderator mentoring/supervision

A question for the mods.Do you check the work of the other mods and give advice to each other?
We all need some feedback on how we are performing and I was just wondering if one of you should be appointed to supervise the rest.It would provide independent adjudication when there is a dispute and they would be there to supervise the impartiality of the mods.I have always felt very uncomfortable with the "thou shall not criticize a mod" part of the rules. It is a way for a weak man to hide behind his position without any form of comeback.

Although I do not have anything against them, I have felt this way too.

No comment yet.I feel that the modding is generally very good, but I have also seen some very bad modding as well when the mod knows the poster by forum rules is not allowed to criticise him! The ethos behind the no criticism rule is wrong and needs changing.

I don't know if that's true. We are able to PM other mods as well as Neal himself. I think the 'no criticism' is mainly concerned with allowing public fights to drag the forums down.

The mods actively discuss what goes on in the forums and take any comments made about them into consideration. So don't worry, if there's something going on - they know and they will discuss decisions. I find the mod-interaction practice here to be very good and responsible, actually.

andI was trying to make them more accountable and professional by introducing this topic. This is the only board that i subscribe to that has this concept and it is also the only one where the mods are not professionals in their fields and are totally unaccountable.
