Your avatar changes in response to a set number of posts. It's one of the neat things about SubSim. Don't worry, we all went through it. Wait until you get the Medic.

Of course, you could always donate to SubSim and get a custom avatar if you really don't like the system.

By the way, I think that the Planesman avatar is from Aces of the Deep.

I typed out a long reply, only to find Tak beat me to it.:rotfl:

The 'Wild Night' avatar only lasts one post, #179.

Was just teasing a bit...
But true, went through a bunch of not so cool ones.
Am not too rich, if it was not money, would have made a donation since a long time. But well, I'm not giving up the idea, and it's not only a question of getting a perso avatar...

I'm not rich either. Donations keep this site online, everyone has to do their part.

Default Avatars and titles

Can you change the avatars? Or at least the titles under them? I see some people have custom titles underneath... does a mod have to do that?

Yes you can change the Avatar and what it says beneath by making a donation to SUBSIM

From the SUBSIM FAQ:

Quote:
Special rank and avatar is available to members who make a donation to the Subsim forum. If every member requested a special rank, it would overwhelm the moderators, plus it wouldn't be very special then, would it?
Once you have an image you like, 60 x 60 pixels and a title, send it off to Neal. Also, let him know you'll be donating so
he can look for this as well.

Nice bonnet by the way

they change pretty quickly too... I just joined this week and went from Bilge Rat, to Nub (my personal favorite), to Swabbie. I've never seen this method before, but I think it's a really cool way of doing the avatars.
