GWX 2.1 Update Released (yes really)
At long last.
It is finished. Today we release the GWX 2.1 update. It is the Grey Wolves Development Team's final organized work for the SH3 platform prior to full scale initialization of work on the GWX project for SH4. (Already well underway.) However you may view the project or its members, what you see here is the culmination of a 2.5 year journey made by individuals determined to transform a good game... into an OUTSTANDING one. Yes it is late, but it is here... and it costs you nothing. For the Grey Wolves Dev Team and crew though, the price was often quite high. only those on the team will fully understand what I speak of. Indeed, this team has weathered every obstacle thrown in its path, and has travelled many many miles beyond the expected destination. It has been my honor to share the road with these fine people and to lead as project manager for so long. It is also my honor to say to this fine team... "WELL DONE GREY WOLVES!" You have my undying gratitude and I salute each of you. Special and sincere thanks to dev team member Privateer for producing the COOLEST interactive installer ever seen at Subsim! Mate, your work absolutely ROCKS! Due to real life matters preventing proper sequencing of events, we will begin the release today and will communicate regarding changes in more detail in the days to come. Please note: You will need a clean installation of SH3 version 1.4b containing a properly installed copy of GWX 2.0 BEFORE adding the GWX 2.1 update. Since we cannot guarantee that previous GWX careers will remain stable, official installation instructions are as follows: (Failure to read the directions will cause you to snarl your installation.) 1) Uninstall SH3 USING THE GAME DISK if you have one. (You will need to create a fresh installation of SH3 to assure stability.) 2) Verify that the "SH3" folder in "My Documents" has been DELETED. If it has not, delete it manually. 3) Reboot your PC 4) Reinstall SH3 and patch to version 1.4b if your disk does not already contain the version 1.4b patch. 5) Reboot your PC again 6) Install GWX 2.0 as described here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...44&postcount=1 Once you have a properly installed copy of SH3 1.4b with GWX 2.0 you are ready for the next simple sequence. A) Create a new folder on your desktop and label it "GWX 2.1 Update" B) Download the "GWX21 Update.exe file to the folder you just created on your desktop. C) Turn your speakers up! D) Double click the GWX21.exe file and follow the directions that appear. For GWX 2.1 Update links visit: http://www.thegreywolves.com/ Official torrent link: http://files.filefront.com/GWX21+tor.../fileinfo.html FOR SH3 Commander users, you must download and apply the following files: http://files.filefront.com/GWX+211+C.../fileinfo.html Please note that currently, only SH3 Commander version 3.0 configuation files are supported by the GWX dev team. Mirrors and torrent will be added to the GWX website soon. IMPORTANT!!! It is recommended that you burn GWX files to CD's or a DVD for safe-keeping I will be revisiting this post the post following it to edit as necessary... as time and real life permits. Please revisit this thread or the primary GWX sticky linked below prior to posting questions or issues. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102096 Last edited by Kpt. i hate to be "that guy" but according to the install instructions posted above we have to start this install process all over from scratch... does this include those of us who already have GWX2.0 installed on a clean copy of 1.4b?
could it not be possible to roll back SH3 Commander, delete all careers and run the 2.1 exe? or is that scenario acceptable. hate to be a pain

Thanx
I'd just like to take a minute to thanx all you guys on the GWX team for all the hard work and all the long hours you've spent on the GWX Mod project over the years. It is really an amazimg piece of work! You know, while I'm at it . I would also like to give thanx to all the other modders out there too. Ya'll have made SHIII a great experence. I would guess that without the collective effords from everyone, from
the modders to the players who just like to post their tips and their experences in SHIII, to this forum, I might have switched back to being a FALCON 4.0 pilot again !! If ya ever find yourself in Baltimore Md. let me know. The First beer is on me . After finishing this current patrol, I plan to update to GWX 2.1. I would still like to use a few aditional mods. They consist of :

@ Doolar Semler 1. Will need to be updated before it is fully compatible with GWX 2.1. It is extremely important that it includes the changes discussed here that addresses a major problem with SH3: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=134939 2. That is an included GWX optional mod since version 2.0 that is updated/adjusted with the 2.1 update. 3. Not compatible if it includes anything other than .tga files. If it includes ANY code files it is not compatible. 4. Probably not at the moment. Danurve was good enough to assist with additional radio messages, but I'm not sure how many if any were used/included with the GWX 2.1 update. The 2.1 update includes important messages that need to be retained... that mod would overwrite them. 5. Absolutely compatible. 6. If it contains an "Sh3.sdl" file or any other code files, it is not compatible with GWX 2.1. Concerning additional "unofficial" mods placed on top of GWX, you may of course use them at your own risk. BE WARNED, just because someone says "mod-x" is compatible does not MEAN that it is ACTUALLY compatible. From the GWX 2.0 release thread 1st post... our statement: Notice to Grey Wolves Expansion users: Use of 'unofficial' add-ons for The Grey Wolves Expansion are not supported by the GWX development team and their use is NOT RECOMMENDED for the inexperienced or casual user. The Grey Wolves development team cannot be held responsible for any adverse effects caused by the subsequent modification of any files made by other modders. We reserve the right to notify GWX users of any additional mod that breaks GWX features as part of the user support we offer, as well as to recommend a course of action to correct matters for the user. Secondarily, we cannot be expected to fix 'unofficial' mods placed on top of GWX. <I'm going to bed now... must be up at 4:30 AM for a shift in surgery. Please be patient guys. We will stay with this thread as long as it takes to include all the bells and whistles.> |
